It's been a year since the release of God of War: Ragnarök, which proved to be a massive hit for the franchise. Sony isn't planning to slow down with the game either, as recently players have received the free Valhalla DLC. Despite the game's success and massive sales, there's one question that players are still left asking: when is God of War Ragnarök coming to PC?
Since the beginning of the PS5 console generation, Sony and PlayStation have expanded their titles to PC. We've seen 2018's God of War being ported to PC, which makes the PC port of God of War Ragnarök feel like a matter of when rather than if. With an incredible story and top-notch animation, there's no wonder why players play the title on PC just like its prequel.
Is God of War: Ragnarök Coming to PC?
If we're to follow Sony's history, the answer is yes. We're going to see a PC port for the game soon as Sony has been clear about its intent to bring its original games to PC and has already done so with PC releases of Spider-Man, God of War, Days Gone, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and The Last of Us: Remastered.
Although there's still no official announcement from Sony, the trends suggest that it's still committed to releasing their games for PC. There's some evidence that supports the God of War: Ragnarök PC port is on its way. Jetpack Interactive partnered with Sony to bring 2018's God of War to PC, and their LinkedIn page currently tells us they're still working with Sony Santa Monica on the God of War franchise. Obviously, it might refer to the development work for the 2018 port; it seems like it's a long-term partnership between the two for PC ports of the franchise.
When Will God of War: Ragnarök Launch on PC?
2018's God of War was first launched on the PS4 back in April 2018, and the PC port was launched in 2022. It was nearly a four year long wait for the game to see the light of the day on PC. We can expect a similar timeframe for the God of War: Ragnarök PC port as well. Again, we still don't have any official announcement, but the timeframe for the PC launch can be anywhere between 2024 and 2026.
The time between console and PC launch varies quite a lot when we talk about PlayStation titles. Suppose we look at Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, the game launched just over two years after its PS5 Release. The Last of Us Part 1 just took under seven months for a PC launch. As a result, it's impossible to give a precise date for the launch of God of War: Ragnarök. Only time will tell us when we will see the game on our PCs.
