What Is The Maximum Party Size In Baldur’s Gate 3?

Party Size in earlier Baldur’s Gate games was limited to six players.
In Baldur’s Gate 3, however, the party size has been decreased to four members, to make the game more readable and easier to combat.
Unfortunately, there are no official updates on this by Larian Studios.

Larian Studios has finally released its third installment in the Baldur’s Gate franchise. As players gear up to play this pulsating roleplaying game, they are also wondering about the size of a party in the game.

The role playing game focuses on a team-based adventure, where players need to make careful decisions about their characters. This also weighs in when choosing companions to traverse through the world of the Forgotten Realms.

While the game was in early access for three years prior to its release, the party was restricted to up to four members. This does not seem to change over time.

How Many Members Can Be Part of A Single Party?

Baldur’s Gate (BG3) 3 is restricted to a four member party, allowing players to focus more on the storyline and dive into the lore without much hassle. Unlike previous Baldur’s Gate versions, which allowed a six members party, Larian Studios has decided to keep it limited to four.

Many fans have expressed that this party mechanic is simply too restrictive. One slot is taken by the player, and the rest by his three companions. According to them, this makes the game a tad bit constricted and is a hindrance to the RPG experience.

Is There Any Way To Increase The Party Size?

While Larian Studios is always looking out for valuable feedback from their fans, it is highly unlikely that the party size will increase since the game’s mechanics are balanced around four player parties. However, if enough fans voice their concerns about this matter, Larian studio may look to revisit the party size at a later time.

Another place players can turn to for increasing the Party size is fan-made mods. While we aren’t aware of any mods that will allow you to do this right now. Experienced developers will likely add mods to the game that will enable this feature soon.
