Capcom is all set to release the sequel of the critically acclaimed Dragon’s Dogma on 22nd March and fans are excited to learn everything there is to know about this new and improved title. The second entry follows the roots of its predecessor, retaining its detailed character creation menu, allowing players to personalize their Arisen and Pawns. After creating your customized avatars, you will be prompted to select a name and a Moniker to finalize your choices, which seems to confuse many players. Here’s how it works in the upcoming game.
How Do Monikers Work in Dragon's Dogma 2?
Monikers are a selection of pre-determined nicknames for your Arisen and Pawn, which will appear when other players view your character. It is Capcom’s safeguarding system that will replace your given name, in case the system finds it offensive to show to others. Although this gives you the freedom to type in whatever name you prefer, selecting a Moniker is mandatory.
Essentially, this is the studio’s parental control system, regardless of the game being classified as 18+ on PEGI. If in case your name seems to be obscene or vulgar, the game will replace your original names given for both your Arisen and Pawn with their respective Monikers. The game offers over 90 nicknames that can be selected alphabetically from A to Z.
As expected, your selected Monikers will not impact any other choices such as dialogue options, your character classes, builds, etc. While the first game allowed players to purchase in-game items like Secret / Art of Metamorphosis to change their character’s name, it is unsure whether the second game will offer a similar mechanic or allow you to replace your name directly from the game menu.
That is pretty much everything you need to know about Monikers in the upcoming Dragon’s Dogma 2. If you are excited to jump into the action right after launch, you can also save yourself some time by creating your Arisen now, using the Dragon's Dogma 2 Character Creator and Storage app. All character data, including the selected Monikers, can be transferred when you launch into the game on 22nd March.
