Highlights
Pokémon Go is a successful mobile game that has always been known for its thrilling Pokémon hunt.
The rarity of many Pokémon depends upon different factors, like weather, spawn conditions, regional exclusivity, and much more.
The chances of obtaining these rare Pokémon are extremely low.

Pokémon Go players love a good chase. Despite some of the Pokémon having terrible Individual Values (IVs), their rarity makes them a good catch. The uprising thrill and a satisfactory hunt make Pokémon Go one of the most memorable games of all time.

The rarity of Pokémon depends on various factors. This could be because they were introduced as limited-edition Pokémon, they’re Legendary, or they're exclusive to a particular region. Other factors that influence rarity include weather conditions, seasons, spawn rotations, and unique biomes.

Here is a list of some of the rarest Pokémon and how to obtain them.

How to Obtain These Rare Pokémon

1. Azelf, Mesprit & Uxie

The trio of Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie are the rarest species of Pokémon, primarily found in specific regions, making their encounters quite elusive. Although they occasionally become available in the Raid Pool and can be accessed through Remote Raids, tracking them down in the wild is a challenging task.

  • Azelf – North America, South America, and Greenland

  • Mesprit – Europe, Africa, Middle East, and India

  • Uxie – Asia and Pacific regions

So, if you're a Pokémon Trainer hoping to catch these elusive creatures, you'll need to venture into their respective regions for a chance to encounter them in the wild.

2. Tirtouga and Carracosta

Previously obtainable through Egg Hatch, Tirtouga is now only found in the wild. This has been a challenge for the Trainers because this water and rock-type duo has extremely low spawn rates. The increase in spawning rates is only marginal while using Daily Adventure Incense, and the community hasn’t had much luck finding them.

The evolution, however, called Carracosta, can be acquired through 50 Tirtouga Candy.

3. Melmetal

You can evolve Meltan into Melmetal by spending 400 Candies in Pokémon Go. Meltan itself is already considered rare, making the task of acquiring Melmetal even more demanding.

The only ways to obtain Meltan is by completing Let’s Go, Meltan Special Research quest or utilizing Mystery Boxes. Additionally, in Season 10, Rising Heroes, for a ticketed timed research event, Melmetal serves as a rewarding prize for successful completion.

4. Unown

Pokémon Go contains 28 variants of Unown and it is nearly impossible to collect them all. The 28 variants are based on the 26 English alphabets and two special symbols - the question mark and the exclamation. This Pokémon has an extremely low spawn rate, but it can be obtained through Egg Hatches, in the wild, and Raids.

5. Archen and Archeops

Archen stands out as an exceptionally rare find, not just within the game but across the entire Pokémon franchise. In the past, it used to be obtainable from 7km Eggs, but currently, the only way to encounter Archen is in the wild. However, due to its extremely low spawn rate, stumbling upon one can be quite challenging. As a result, evolving Archen into its final form, Archeops, becomes an even more arduous task, requiring the accumulation of 50 candies for the evolution process. Patience and persistence are crucial for Trainers aiming to add the elusive Archeops to their collection.

6. Noibat and Noivern

Noibat is a challenging find both in the wild and through Egg hatching due to its infrequent appearances. Its evolution, Noivern, presents an even greater hurdle, as it requires 400 candies for most players—an achievement that remains elusive for many.

7. Salandit and Salazzle

Salandit presents a significant challenge for Trainers seeking its evolved form, Salazzle. The evolution into Salazzle is limited to female Salandit, but this opportunity comes with an exceedingly low probability of just 12.5%.

Adding to its rarity is the fact that Salandit is not available in the wild, further contributing to its elusive nature.

8. Goomy, Silggoo and Goodra

Goomy can be encountered through two different methods: hatching a 10km egg or encountering it in the wild. However, sightings of Goomy in the wild are infrequent, and even within the 10km egg hatching pool, it remains equally scarce.

Once a Trainer manages to acquire a Goomy, they face the task of accumulating 125 Candy to facilitate its evolution into both Sliggoo and Goodra.

9. Jangmo-o, Hakamo-o & Kommo-o

Jangmo-o has the potential to spawn in the wild or hatch from a 10 km egg. However, encountering this elusive creature through these methods is highly unlikely due to its low spawn rate. To evolve Jangmo-o into its further evolutions, Hakamo-o and Kommo-o, a Trainer must amass 125 Candy, a considerable task.

10. Axew and Haxorus

Acquiring Axew can be done through either hatching a 10km egg or encountering it in the wilderness. However, the likelihood of encountering this elusive Pokémon through these methods is exceedingly slim. Originating from the Unova region, Axew ranks among the rarest non-legendary creatures in the game.

Similar to Jangmo-o, using Pinap berries when stumbling upon Axew is a wise strategy to maximize Candy gains. Despite this, evolving Axew into its final form, Haxorus, requires gathering 125 Candy, a painstaking endeavor.
