Red Dead Redemption might possibly get an enhanced version for the Nintendo Switch and a full remake for the current-gen consoles and PC
Rockstar Games’ RDR sold a whopping 21 million copies worldwide.

After the colossal success of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar has been all hush about the Red Dead series, while focusing its resources on Grand Theft Auto (GTA) online and for the development of Grand Theft Auto 6. There are also rumors spreading that the first Red Dead Redemption (RDR) game (which features John Marston as the protagonist) is getting a remake or a remaster similar to the GTA trilogy that launched in 2021. While there isn't any official news addressing this rumor, there are several speculations floating around about the Red Dead Redemption 1 remake / remaster

Red Dead Redemption Leaks and Speculations

Data Miner TezFunz2, posted on 27th July about Rockstar’s website updates which hint at a new set of platform options that have been added to the official Red Dead Redemption site. This indicates the possibility of a newer version of RDR coming to current-gen platforms including the Nintendo Switch.

While a remake of RDR is feasible, the fact that Nintendo Switch is mentioned in the website’s code might mean that the game is only getting a remaster, similar to the GTA Trilogy. This might be due to the fact that the hybrid handheld does not have the hardware requirements to handle Rockstar’s latest iteration of the RAGE engine. Furthermore, the developer might be hesitant to release a remastered RDR game right now, considering its GTA trilogy was not much of a financial success compared to its other games.

Currently, RDR has native support available only for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, although you can also run the game through backwards compatibility on Xbox One and Series X/S.

It is important to note that these are all rumors and speculations based on insider information. There is no official confirmation from Rockstar, so please take this with a grain of salt.
