Pokemon GO offers a new timed research event that will guarantee you a Master Ball upon completing nine challenging tasks.
This event started on 1st September and it will continue until the 21st November.
It is worth it to try and acquire the Master Ball, as it is pretty much considered a novelty item and also comes in handy while trying to capture Legendary Pokemon.

Niantic’s Pokemon GO recently got a new timed research which will grant you the legendary Master Ball upon completion. It is certainly one of the most rarest items in the game and many players are wondering how they can get their hands on this valuable in-game asset. The first time it was added to the game was during the Let’s GO event back in June, where you had to complete a special research story to acquire it. Here’s what you need to know to successfully get it this time.

The Master Ball Timed Research Event in Pokemon GO

This Timed Research event was added to the game on 1st September and will be available for another 74 days as it concludes on 21st November. In order to complete this challenging task, you need to do the following:

  • Catch 1,000 Pokemon: Catching 13-14 Pokemon every day should do the trick

  • Win 60 Raids: You can make it easier by playing with friends, Check daily raids, or using remote raid passes

  • Hatch 30 Eggs: Prioritize on hatching 2km and 5km eggs while keeping Adventure Sync on.

  • Catch 100 Different Species of Pokemon: Consistency plays a big role here as you must constantly be catching Pokemon, hatching eggs, and participating in raids.

  • Make 120 Excellent Throws: This does require practice and patience as making these many excellent throws can be quite challenging.

  • Complete 150 Field Research Tasks: This coincides with capturing Pokemon and spinning Pokestops which is relatively easy to do.

  • Explore 50Kms: Similarly, if you are focused on other tasks, you can easily make sure you get your steps in. Just be sure to activate Adventure Sync so you can log steps more accurately.

  • Spin 300 Pokestop: This would also be the least of your worries as you can easily complete this just from doing the basics of catching Pokemon and completing Field Research Tasks.

  • Earn 100,000 XP and 100,000 Stardust: This would probably be the most daunting task of all as such a huge amount of XP does not come easily, However, there is a Paldean Adventure event until 10th September which will grant you 4x Stardust and XP from catching Pokemon. You can also consider becoming best buddies with a trainer, as that will also grant you 100,000 XP.

Each of these events will grant you 8,000 XP amounting to a massive 72,000 XP. Players who are looking to level up can easily take advantage of this Timed Research event. The Master Ball is a powerful in-game item that is capable of capturing any Pokemon without fail. You can never miss a Master Ball throw which makes it a highly sought-after reward, and it is certainly worth pursuing these challenges to acquire it.

Several Pokemon Go Fans Are Riled up Due to the Difficulty of These Tasks

In a Reddit post on r/pokemongo  many users shared their concerns regarding the challenge being timed. Their main concern is that Niantic did not take casual and rural players into account while creating this challenge. Players who have the need to use a Master Ball in the first place would be someone who is unable to complete the challenge.

That is pretty much all there is to know about the Master Ball in Pokemon GO. Since the event went live, there have been many such posts on community pages and on Twitter criticizing the lack of thought behind this challenge. At the time of writing, there has been no word from Niantic acknowledging this.
