Payday 3: Storyline and Other Details
Not much is known about the storyline of Payday 3. Yet, it is anticipated that the game will take place in a new city. This first player shooter (FPS) co-op game features a criminal gang that reunites years after Payday 2, forced to disrupt their early retirement. A threat dawns over them that emerged from the chaos in the previous iteration, yanking the players into a new city.
Leaving Washington DC, the players will immerse themselves in the “living, enormous representation” of New York, as was informed by the director Erik Wonnevi during the Payday tenth anniversary livestream in 2022.
Players will directly pit themselves against the law-enforcement, participating in pulsating heists varying in objectives from stealing and creating drugs to taking down a target. The game is very much like its predecessors, which were also multiplayer FPS games and featured a series of heists. However, it is speculated that Payday 3 will also introduce new elements in the game, like mass surveillance, cryptocurrency and the dark web.
Unlike Payday 2, which was developed using the Grin engine, the third iteration is being developed in the Unreal engine, which is expected to boost the game's performance. Looking at the gameplay trailer for Payday 3, fans can also expect high-quality graphics and advanced gaming technology, along with upgraded gear that will set the game apart from its previous counterparts.
After waiting for nearly a decade, fans are excited to enter the dark and gory world of crime, where they will join the Payday crew characters Dallas, Hoxton, Chains and Wolf. The game will be available on gaming platforms like PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 21st September 2023 with additional features that will be updated later, speculations suggest.
