Mortal Kombat 1 features several iconic characters from the previous games in the franchise. This newest installment aims to reboot the series by reconceptualizing these characters, giving them a new look along with adding a new fighting system, game modes, and fatalities. The game also offers an enticing campaign mode and the introduction of Kameo fighters who assist the main roster by using a special move, throw, or breaker. Mortal Kombat 1 offers players a total of 19 different playable characters at the time of writing. There is a huge possibility for Nether Realm Studios to add more characters nearing the game’s 19th September release date.

This High Mage of the Outerworld is known specifically for his water magic. Rain has honed his craft of water magic and perfected it enough to use it as a deadly weapon. He currently attempts to learn the most dark and potent sorcery in the realm.
Smoke
He is considered to be the master of stealth who has mastered the art of practical magic which places him closer to his brothers Sub-Zero and Scorpion. He joins the two as a defender of the Earthrealm.
Geras
This Sentinel of the Hourglass has been working tirelessly to protect and defend reality. He has made it his mission to monitor events to ensure that they are faithful to Lui Kang’s vision.
Baraka
After contracting the Tarkat plague, Baraka was outcasted to live among people with the same disease. After observing the plight of his fellow Tarkatans, he decided to be the defender of his colony, for he knew that he would not be a victim as long as he kept the fight going.
Havik
He is a citizen in the oppressive regime of Seido who is a rebel filled with anger and hatred due to the injustices occurring to the poor. After getting a barbaric punishment for a minor crime, he sets out to destroy and overthrow the realm of Seido and turn it into an anarchist utopia, where the citizens can finally live free.
Kameo Fighters in Mortal Kombat 1
Apart from your main roster, the game also includes Kameo fighters who assist you mid-combat by performing specific skill moves and throws or defensive breakers.
