Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Will Feature New Gameplay Elements and an Extended New York City

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the third installment in the series made by Insomniac Games following the release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. This highly anticipated action-adventure title aims to cement Insomniac Games’s place in the history books as one of the best developers of Spider-Man games. The game is set to release on the 20th October for the PlayStation 5 and Insomniac has already unveiled a lot of information about its gameplay and new features. Without further ado, Let’s take a look at what the new game offers.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Gameplay and Combat Features
Insomniac has already unveiled quite a bit of the game’s features and storylines with the official story trailer and gameplay reveal for the game that released by the end of May.
As you can see the gameplay reveal shows us a lot of new info about the game. There will be two playable protagonists, Peter Parker and Miles Morales and players will be allowed to quickly switch between them and play through different combat scenarios, which is a first in the series. There are several new mechanics and features added to the game such as the Web Wings that will allow players to glide across New York City and reach their locations faster.
Moreover, there are different combat features specific to Miles Morales and Peter Parker who sports a symbiote Black suit. Miles is now more confident as Spider-Man which allows for a slew of new abilities and gadgets that he can use. The two notable ones that appeared in the reveal are the web zipline that you can use to sneak past the enemies below you. Miles also uses Bioelectric powers that allow him to use potentially charged attacks such as the one seen in the video where he slams enemies into the ground using an electric blast move of sorts.
With Peter now acquiring the symbiote, he sports a more aggressive skillset which shows us more brutal combos and parries performed by him. He is seemingly more stronger than before with his mechanics reflecting a more surefire way to harm enemies rather than simply disabling them.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Expanded Locations
New York City featured in the game is now expanding from just featuring Manhattan by introducing two new boroughs such as Brooklyn and Queens, as well as specific locations such as Coney Island and more. Having two swappable characters is certainly a benefit here, as we can now cover separate areas of the map at a faster pace.
