Zenless Zone Zero is the next project from the studio behind Genshin Impact, set to expand the HoYoverse universe.
However, the fans are left wondering if the game is open-world or not. Here's everything you need to know about Open World in Zenless Zone Zero.

When Genshin Impact was released in 2020, it was more than a lifeline to many players. Lockdown had kept us inside our homes with little cash in our wallets, so a happy and beautiful free-to-play game seemed exactly what we would need.

But Hoyoverse isn’t done yet; they have more projects in the works, and one of these is the hotly anticipated Zenless Zero Zone. Announced in May 2022, Zenless Zero Zone isn’t as cheerful as the other titles by Hoyoverse. Instead, the game takes place in a post-apocalyptic urban world.

Naturally, players are left wondering: is Zenless Zone Zero open world? In this article, we’ll break down everything we know about the open world feature in Zenless Zone Zero.

Is Zenless Zone Zero Going to Be Open World?

There’s no doubt that HoYoverse is ruling the gacha world with the success of both Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, but that hasn’t stopped the studio from working on more exciting games for their audience.

Zenless Zone Zero is set in a post-apocalyptic futuristic world called New Eridu; players are tasked with exploring the alternative dimensions called “Hollows,” where they must take on enemies in a fast-paced combo. As we get closer to the launch, many players are curious as to whether the game will feature an open world.

Unfortunately, Zenless Zone Zero is not an open world. The game isn’t like Genshin Impact; players won’t have a big open world to explore. Zenless Zone Zero plays out more like a dungeon crawler; players have to enter the “Hollows” portal to take commissions.

The game’s combat mechanics are very similar to its 2020 spiritual predecessor. When you’re not completing your tasks in the alternative dimensions, you can watch the game’s cutscenes and purchase food buffs in the city of New Eridu.

Unlike the previous HoYoverse titles, Zenless Zone Zero looks like it will implement roguelike elements.

And that’s everything we know about whether Zenless Zone Zero is an open-world game or not. Be sure to follow us as we’ll update you with the latest Zenless Zone Zero news and guides.
