Cyberpunk 2077 is on its way to receive one of its biggest DLCs which could fundamentally change its gameplay. CD Projekt Red has announced that the new expansion will be released on 26th September for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This expansion adds several exciting features to the base game in terms of new weapons, skill trees, new campaigns, vehicles, new districts, etc., which means if you are a fan of the cyberpunk genre, you will definitely be impressed by Phantom Liberty. Many fans are placing their trust in the studio, speculating that this expansion will be just as good or even serve as a better addition to Cyberpunk 2077 than the Blood and Wine DLC did to The Witcher 3. Let’s take a look.

Can You Get Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty for Free?

Phantom Liberty is a paid expansion that will cost you USD $29.99 / £24.99 / ₹1,799.00.

As mentioned above, the expansion adds a lot to the base game in terms of features. It also contains brand-new campaign missions featuring the well-known Idris Elba, who seems to play a crucial role in Phantom Liberty’s plot.

Cyberpunk Gets a Free 2.0 Update Prior to Phantom Liberty

However, Cyberpunk 2077 offers will feature a new 2.0 update which overhauls various features of the vanilla game.  Here are some of its new features:

  • Overhauled Skill trees and perks

  • Revamped Cyberware and a new capacity system

  • Vehicular combat and car chases

  • Overhauled police system

  • Changes to the game’s crafting and looting systems

  • Brand-new radio stations

These are much-needed quality-of-life changes that significantly improve the gameplay experience of Cyberpunk 2077. You are allowed to install way more cyberware but you are limited by a total carrying capacity. Clothes also lose their armor rating and simply act as cosmetics now. Armor is installed through a new cyberware category.

The new progression system adds five new categories such as Shinobi, Headhunter, Netrunner, Solo, and Engineer. Vehicular combat also received major changes which means you can now shoot through your car’s windows. Furthermore, there are also mounted machine guns on some of the vehicles. You can now purchase cars at computer terminals by browsing through online catalogs instead of having to travel all the way to specific locations.

The police system also gets a revamp by including a star system, where reaching the highest wanted level (5 Stars) means you’ve got to deal with top-tier Max Tech officers. With the option to shoot from the driver’s seat, the game will provide fun police chases. If you follow the Netrunner path, you can also hack enemy cars and blow them up. Perhaps the biggest feature of them all is that you can now pet random cats on the streets.

The Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update is available from 21st September for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It is available completely for free for those who already purchased the base game. If you are still working your way through the main story, this will certainly add more immersion and depth to your gameplay.
