Stardew Valley is a farming simulation and an open-world roleplaying game.
Players have one goal, which is to re-establish the glory of the farm that the grandfather ignited once in the past.
This requires players to keep the barn up-to-date and accommodate as many animals as possible.

Stardew Valley is an open-ended, farming simulation where players find joy in life’s simpler pleasures. Your days are dedicated to farming, rearing livestock, fishing, mining, and forging meaningful relationships with the locals of Pelican Town. Engaging in these activities and becoming a respectable member of the community comes with financial challenges. That is why players rely on creating in-game structures that are up-to-date and smoothly functioning.

The goal is to restore the farm to the glory that it once had. Using the latest farm tools as well as an up-to-date barn is essential to achieving this objective. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at how you can upgrade your barn in Stardew Valley.

Barns in Stardew Valley Explained

A barn in Stardew Valley is a farm structure where you can gather resources by rearing contended livestock. These barns are suitable for housing cows, goats, sheep, pigs, and ostriches. It can also be utilized for storing chests, artisan equipment, and furniture.

Barns can be purchased from Robin at the Carpenter’s Shop. If you are constructing a barn for the first time, it will take around three days for it to get ready. However, updating one takes just two days. Meanwhile, the barn can be used as it is, and you can engage in dialogue or gifting with Robin.

How to Upgrade Barns in Stardew Valley

The necessity of upgrading your barn may arise due to the cramping of animals and your inability to rear them judiciously. A modified barn will help you create a spacious environment for your animals. Moreover, you will be able to oversee your four-legged roster with more care.

The update takes place at the Carpenter’s Shop, where Robin will help you. Follow the given steps to update your barn:

  1. Approach Robin at the shop and talk to her. This is a crucial step in updating the barn.

  2. Choose the "Construct Farm Buildings" option.

  3. Click on the left arrow that appears under the Coop Building, at the bottom.

  4. If you already have a barn on your farm, the upgraded version will be visible. However, if you don’t have a basic barn yet, you'll need to build one before proceeding.

  5. Select the build that you want for your barn - big or deluxe. Then, locate the existing barn and click on it to initiate the process.
