In this article, you will learn how to disable the text-to-speech narrator present in almost every version of Minecraft.
The narrator was introduced to Minecraft in the 1.12 update to the Java Edition. It has since then been carried over to all versions of Minecraft.

Mohjang’s popular 3D sandbox Minecraft needs no introduction when it comes to its features and its abilities. After all, it is the most popular and best-selling game of all time. Considering this, it is no surprise that Microsoft decided to make the game accessible to every player out there. This was one of the key reasons behind the introduction of the text-to-speech narrator present in the game. The addition of this feature has really been helpful for gamers who are visually impaired. However, if you do not need it as an option or if it has been turned on by default, this article will help you to turn off the feature.

How to Turn off the Narrator in Minecraft?

In order to turn off the narrator, you must navigate to the settings menu and click on accessibility. Upon doing so you will come across a setting called Enable UI Screen Reader. Toggling off this option would make sure the voiceover narrator stays off. This process is mainly for the Xbox and PlayStation versions of Minecraft.

Even though the process is the same on both PC and Console, There are shortcut keys present on PC which makes the process just a little easier. Players must simply press and hold CTRL+B while in-game. This directly opens the voice and sound settings of Minecraft under which you can find an option to toggle the narrator off. Furthermore, if the narration is enabled on a system level, just press and hold CTRL+Windows+Enter keys to toggle off the text-to-speech system present in Windows.

For the Pocket Version of Minecraft, the settings are named a little differently from the other two. When in-game, navigate to chat settings from the main menu. On the bottom left of your screen, you will see an option to either enable or disable the narrator.

Do note that for other versions of Minecraft, the process would be the same as the one mentioned for the Pocket Edition.

This is pretty much all you have to do to turn off that distracting narrator in Minecraft. If you find yourself in a situation where these methods did not work, it leads to the possibility of a glitch or an error which means you might have to re-launch or re-install the game. If the issue is persistent, you could also attempt to contact Minecraft Support.
