Baldur’s Gate 3 will pit players against a variety of different bosses throughout the storyline. Some of them might be really challenging and they might force you to have a few pre-requisites before you begin your battle against them. One such challenging fight in the game occurs with a Cambion called Raphael who disguises himself as a human when you are introduced to him. You will come across him several times as you progress through the plot but as you reach act 3, you will get the opportunity to engage in combat against him. This guide will help you deal with this challenging boss in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Where Can You Find Raphael in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Raphael’s boss fight can be triggered once you enter the House of Hope. In order to reach it, you must first enter the Devil’s Fee shop which is located to the north of the Lower City Central Wall Portal. You can only enter the house by opening a portal which requires you to perform a ritual on the second floor of the Devil’s Fee. Once you head inside the shop, you will meet Helsik who will provide you with five ingredients needed to carry out the ritual.
Battling Raphael in Baldur’s Gate 3
Raphael has a health pool of 666HP regardless of the difficulty you choose, making him one of the toughest bosses in the game. He also spawns several Cambion enemies who can do big damage to your party when combined.
To trigger this encounter with Raphael, you must go to the House of Hopeand find him in one of the rooms. There are a few dialogue options present which you can take advantage of. You will get the option to persuade Yurgir, the giant devil who is on the side of Raphael. If you have a persuasion roll of 30 and above, you can get him to fight for you. There is also another woman named Hope in the same house who will join your fight upon saving her. If you meet these requirements, you will gain a few valuable allies while also reducing the number of minions on Raphael’s side.
Effective Strategies to Beat Raphael
Considering the massive health pool of Raphael, you must first acknowledge the fact that the battle is going to take a while regardless of whether you meet the requirements or not.
Although there are several enemies during the battle, first focus your attacks on destroying the four columns in each corner. Raphael absorbs power from each of them and he is drastically weaker without them.
If you do choose to free Hope, you must use her solely as a healing source for your party.
Once the columns are destroyed, focus all your resources on killing the cambion spawns. Upon doing so, all your party members will focus on Raphael as the sole target without any interruption.
If you did not pass the persuasion check, and you do not have Yurgir on your side, you can use a potion of See Invisibility or use a status effect to make his turns inefficient.
Raphael is immune to fire, cold, lightning, and poison damage. So it is recommended to fight him until his health bar slowly withers out. It is better to use melee damage and force, radiant or necrotic damage for spell users.
Once his health pool drops down, he will transform into his original devil form. You must continue to attack him until he falls. He might also try to fly away but you must simply chase him down
If you loot Raphael’s body you will get a Helldusk Armor chest piece. This boss fight is one of the longest and most demanding fights in the game so do not worry if it does take a few tries to complete it.
