In the vast expanse of Starfield's universe, resource management is key to survival and success. Building outposts and efficiently transferring materials is crucial for any spacefaring explorer. In this guide, we'll dive into the mechanics of transferring containers in Starfield, helping you optimize your resource logistics.
Getting a Transfer Container
To initiate the process of transferring containers in Starfield, you'll first need to construct a Transfer Container at your outpost. Here's a step-by-step guide to achieving this:
Build a Transfer Container: Acquire the necessary materials for building a Transfer Container, which are 4 units of Lubricant, 8 units of Iron, and 5 units of Tungsten.
Set Up Extractor and Power Source: Once the Transfer Container is in place, you'll require an extractor and an energy source to power the container. These can be found in the Extractors and Power sections of the Build Mode menu. Choose the appropriate extractor size based on your resource needs.
Strategic Placement: Ensure that the extractor is positioned in an area where the resource it's extracting is abundant. This placement maximizes efficiency.
With the Transfer Container built, extractor operational and powered, your materials will automatically start flowing into the container.
Transferring Items to Your Ship
Now that your Transfer Container is functioning and stocked with resources, the next step is to transfer these items to your ship. Follow these steps for a seamless transfer:
Access Cargo Hold: Head to your ship, typically near the cockpit's left side, where you'll find a small screen labeled "Cargo Hold."
Switch Inventory: Use the designated key (Q on PC or LB on controller) to toggle between your outpost's inventory and your ship's inventory.
Transfer Items: While in the outpost's inventory, select the items you want to transfer to your ship's Cargo Hold. Use the E key on PC or the A button on your controller to initiate the transfer.
If you find that your outpost doesn't appear as a possible storage container in the Cargo Hold, it means your ship is too far from the outpost. To resolve this issue, construct a Landing Pad, specifically the "Landing Pad with Shipbuilder," at your outpost. Here are the materials required for this construction:
30x Iron
2x Zero Wire
18x Adaptive Frame
2x Beryllium
With the Landing Pad in place and your ship nearby, you should have no trouble accessing the outpost's inventory for efficient material transfers.
