The newest installment in the NBA 2K franchise was released on 8th September for a slew of devices such as the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. NBA 2K24 features new technologies such as ProPLAY which directly translates NBA footage into gameplay. Similar to HyperMotion V seen in games like EA Sports FC 24, this new mode aims to deliver accurate movements and animations from the real world to the virtual court, providing an authentic NBA experience.
However, some unlucky players have run into an error called 'UserData' file has been corrupted and is unable to be loaded, which prevents them from entering into a game. Here’s how you can rectify it.
What Causes the NBA 2K24 “Userdata” Corruption Error?
The main reason behind this error is the intentional or accidental deletion of the Reserved Space in your hard drive. You might run across this section if you are trying to clear up some space on your device and you might also notice that it holds no real data apart from being a part of your game. Although it might seem redundant, we strongly suggest not to delete this as it is an integral part of NBA 2K24.
If you do not already know, Reserved Space is allocated on your HD or SSD to hold patches and updates of your favorite games. This is a feature that is regularly used in most 2K games such as NBA 2K24 and WWE 2K. Deleting a game’s reserved space will prompt the game to create another file and during this process, it is possible for you to run into several issues, one among them being the corruption of game files.
How Do You Fix the NBA 2K24 “Userdata” Corruption Error?
Thankfully, the Reserved Space Data will be re-downloaded by the game automatically after launching it. To ensure that it works properly, you simply need to do the following:
Load into NBA 2K24
Select the Play Now Option but make sure you don’t head into a game
Stay on the same menu for a while
You will receive a notification in a yellow font on the bottom left of the screen asking you to return to the main menu
You may get a loading screen once you head back to the main menu.
Once you get through it, your game will be fully updated and your reserved data will be restored.
Do note that this process might take hours and your patience is required. You can also attempt to put your device into sleep mode provided it does not interfere with this process. If you have deleted these files or clicked on cancel while it is restoring, you will lose access to any online game modes and their respective files. It is crucial that you don’t try to bypass this essential process.
