Eleventh Hour Games’ Last Epoch has finally gotten out of its 5-year early access period on Steam and is now being relished by fans worldwide. The hack-and-slash ARPG has received numerous positive reviews after its full release, acquiring a 9/10 rating on Steam.
While most gamers have had consistent gameplay experiences, some have reportedly run into the LE-61 Error code, interrupting their game and kicking them out of servers. This can understandably be a frustrating error, bringing progression to a grinding halt. Let’s cut to the chase and figure out how to resolve this issue so you can jump right back into the immersive world of Last Epoch.
How to Fix the “LE- 61 Failed to Matchmake” Error in the Last Epoch?
Many players reported that they encountered the LE- 61 Error code after completing one zone and entering the next one. Apparently, the most common areas where this code popped up were the Fortress Gardens and the Keeper’s Camp regions.
The main reason behind this error is the influx of players jumping into Last Epoch, which has caused the game servers to overload. Thankfully, the devs are already aware of players experiencing this issue and are actively working on fixing it.
Regrettably, many players are still experiencing the LE-61 error, regardless of the fixes implemented by the devs, as mentioned on the Last Epoch Discord channel. The CEO of Eleventh Hour Games, Judd Cobler provided the following update 10 hours before the time of writing:
“LE-61s spiking/servers offline but we'll be able to rectify this more quickly than before - The backend team is making improvements that will improve stabilization tonight and for the next big online CCU wave.”
While the official fixes are still underway, there are a few methods that you can implement to counteract Error Code LE-61. These are:
Join a Friend Who Is Connected to the Game Servers
Considering that Last Epoch lists online co-op as one of its key features, you can simply join the lobby of a friend who is already in the Fortress Gardens or Keeper’s Camp regions, as switching from one zone to another seems to be the reason behind this error code.
Play Using Last Epoch’s Offline Mode
If you simply wish to experience this immersive Action RPG and do not mind missing out on some features, you can also run the game in offline mode through the following steps:
Open your Steam Library and right-click on Last Epoch
Click on the Gear icon on the game page and head into Properties
Once you are in the General tab, select the drop-down menu under Launch Options
Select the “Play Full Offline” option and then launch the game.
However, before you switch over to the offline mode, you need to keep in mind that you need to create a new offline avatar, as it is not possible to use your online character in this mode.
