Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 has been officially revealed in India and players are excited to get their hands on the game. There is no doubt that the base edition of the game will be around $60 to $70 USD for Xbox and PlayStation. But if you are a PC gamer wondering how much GTA 6 will be priced at in India, here’s what you need to know. All information below is speculative and we do not have any official information from Rockstar Games yet.
Expect GTA 6 to be priced around $60 USD in India
Regional pricing in India is slowly fading away and it is highly unlikely that Indian gamers will get to play GTA 6 at a lower price than the rest of the world. That being said Red Dead Redemption 2 is priced lower in India than a lot of other regions but most AAA studios have moved away from offering Indian gamers lower prices since the game’s release.
Valve has Regional Pricing Recommendations on Steam that publishers can choose to adopt. According to Valve,” Developers on Steam have control over their own prices, in every currency. But researching and determining ideal prices for dozens of different currencies can be a challenge for some developers. As a service for helping you manage pricing across all our different currencies, Steam offers a recommendation for all other currencies, based on whatever USD price you choose.”
In October 2022, Steam increased its Pricing Recommendations for India with $0.99 USD purchases being valued at ₹52 INR, up from ₹42 INR. This looks like a 24% increase at first glance but if you look at the $20 to $200 USD bracket, the increase shoots up to 88%.
While GTA 6 may be regionally priced, it is not worth keeping your hopes up. Expect it to be priced at around INR 4000-5000 for the base edition of the game. The Deluxe/Premium editions will likely cost around INR 6000 if not more.
Do note that things may change depending on India’s economy and Rockstar Games’ stance on regional pricing in India. The publisher has not revealed any pricing information and there is no official word of a PC release to begin with. The PC release will happen around a year after the game’s console release going by previous Rockstar Games’ release patterns.
