Rockstar Games’s Grand Theft Auto series is quite literally the biggest franchise in the history of video games. GTA 5 shattered several records upon its release and has amassed a revenue of 7.7 billion dollars to date, beating several Hollywood movies. The game can be considered as one of the best selling video games of all time on Console/PC. Considering all of this, it is no surprise that the rumors surrounding GTA 6 have been plentiful. Speculations from fans regarding GTA 6’s release date have been piling up and here is what we know so far.
GTA 6 Release Date
Rockstar announced that GTA 6 is in development in the month of February 2022.Apart from it, there has been no official announcement from Rockstar regarding the GTA 6 release date. Grand Theft Auto 5, a game that was released a decade ago is still being played by millions of gamers worldwide which means that Rockstar already has a lot on their plate with updating and adding new features to GTA5’s online multiplayer mode. Rockstar is a pioneer when it comes to creating game environments with incredible attention to detail. They strive to achieve perfection in all aspects of their game which means GTA 6 has some huge shoes to fill. Considering all of this, we cannot expect GTA 6 to complete its development anytime soon.
GTA 6 Leaks and Rumors
On the 18th of September 2022, Rockstar Games suffered a massive data breach which leaked about 90 videos featuring 50 minutes of gameplay. Upon looking at the footage, you will notice that it had been captured at various stages of the game’s development. The footage revealed a variety of features present in the game including its setting, its gameplay, its characters and NPC interactions. Several journalists describe the incident to be the biggest leak in gaming history and one can see why.
The game will feature a male and a female protagonist which is different from GTA 5 where players can switch between three male protagonists. It is also rumored that the game will feature a modern day Vice City based on the fourth game in the series called Grand Theft Auto Vice City. Players can expect several different easter eggs that have been previously featured in most of the GTA games.
That is pretty much all we have gathered from the leaks and rumors so far. Please do take this with a grain of salt as most of the footage shown was taken during the prototype stage of the game and there is a possibility that Rockstar games might make changes to it considering the leaks and its own creative process.
