Genshin Impact: Version 4.2 Update Patch Notes
The highly anticipated Genshin Impact Version 4.2 update titled "Masquerade of the Guilty" is here, and it brings a plethora of new features, adjustments, limited banners, quests, regions, events, and system optimizations. Compensation for Maintenance and Fixes
To kick things off, players who experienced downtime during maintenance will receive Primogems as compensation. The amount depends on the duration of the maintenance. Additionally, there is compensation for an issue with Neuvillette's Lv. 6 Constellation Effect and other bug fixes.
New Areas: Fontaine Expands
Version 4.2 introduces two new areas to explore in Fontaine: the Morte Region and Erinnyes Forest. Travelers who have completed Archon Quest Prologue: Act III "Song of the Dragon and Freedom" will unlock a Teleport Waypoint near Fontaine's Marcotte Station. There are also new Fishing Points and "Radiant Spincrystals" to discover.
New Characters & Limited Banners
In Version 4.2, two new characters are set to make their debut:
The star of this update is the 5-star character "Endless Solo of Solitude" Furina, a Hydro sword user. Furina can change her Arkhe alignment via Charged Attacks, and her abilities, "Salon Solitaire" and "Let the People Rejoice," add a unique twist to combat.
Joining Furina is Charlotte, a 4-star Cryo Catalyst user. Her Elemental Skill, "Framing: Freezing Point Composition," and Elemental Burst, "Still Photo: Comprehensive Confirmation," offer unique support and damage-dealing capabilities.
In addition to these new characters, the banners will feature returning characters such as Baizhu, Ayato, and Cyno.

New Weapon: Splendor of Tranquil Waters
A new 5-star sword, "Splendor of Tranquil Waters," is introduced in this update. It provides Elemental Skill DMG bonuses and Max HP increases based on your party members' HP changes. This weapon is featured in the "Epitome Invocation" event wish.
New Quests
Version 4.2 brings new chapters to the Archon Quests, deepening the lore of Teyvat. Players will embark on new adventures, revealing mysteries and uncovering the story behind the "Masquerade of the Guilty."
Moreover, a new Story Quest for Furina, "Animula Choragi Chapter: Act I - The Little Oceanid," is permanently available, offering players an opportunity to delve into Furina's background and character.

All-Devouring Narwhal: The All-Devouring Narwhal, a formidable weekly boss, features AoE attacks and is home to The Foul, an entity residing inside the whale.
Hydro Tulpa: The Hydro Tulpa, awakens from its slumber and is known for summoning half-tulpas that strengthen it.
New Recipes and Achievements
The update introduces new recipes like Café Lutece, Fontaine: La Lettre a Focalors, and Blubber Profiterole. Furina and Charlotte also have their specialty dishes. New achievement categories and Namecards are added to the game.
