Bringing back the iconic original map was one of the best decisions by Epic Games, which saw the return of many return players. Now that OG season is gone, what’s next for Fortnite?

Epic Games is back with another exciting chapter for Fortnite. The official launch trailer for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season is out and showcases new features and mechanics added to the game.

Wondering what’s coming in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1? We’ve got you covered! Here’s everything you need to know before jumping into the game.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 Patch Notes

New Map

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 brings a fresh new map for players to explore, containing biomes such as boreal forest, chaparral, borerla tundra, grassland, and boreal snow. Around 11 new POIs have also been added to the map.

Trains

One of the most unique additions in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 is the trains. With the “Capture the Train” objective, players can use the train that travels across the island while capturing and eliminating enemies.

Players also have the capability to engage in combat directly and leap between different train carriages. The train starts from Reckless Railways POIs and connects other POIs towards the center of the map.

Weapon Mods

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1

You’ll now find Mod Benches in Vaults across the map, allowing you to spend Bars to upgrade your favorite weapons. The added mods can reduce recoil, increase mag capacity, and much more; however, not every mod will work with every weapon.

You can’t outright purchase mod-compatible weapons from Vending Machines or Characters, so you’ll have to get them in loot. Most of the mod-compatible weapons will come with pre-attached mods. Players will have the option to change the mods on these weapons by spending Bars the Mod Benches. Try to experiment with different mod combos to see what’s working for you.

New Movement Mechanics

With the introduction of Mantling in Chapter 4, it’s no surprise that Epic Games is adding more movements in the new Fortnite season. Wall climbing is here, allowing players to run toward and scale walls and other structures.

Harding, which was removed in Chapter 4 Season 1, has also made a return to the game.

Brand-New Battle Pass

The new battle of the season brings Peter Griffin and Solid Snake to Fortnite. Peter has a beefy appearance and brings other items that are featured around the hit TV show. An easter egg in the season launch trailer also confirms that we’re soon going to see Fortnite x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

New Weapons & Consumables

It’s not a new Fortnite season without new weapons. This season, we’re getting Grapple Blade, which works like a grappler, pulling players to their intended location. However, the new item brings a close-range attack in which a nearby enemy is eliminated when you spin the blade.

We’re also going to see the addition of eight new weapons in the game, including a brand-new Clisyter Clinger throwable explosive and Ballistic Shield.

A new consumable item called ‘FlowBerry’ has also been added to the game, which recovers your and your nearby teammate’s Shield.

Car Lockers & New Cars

In the new Fortnite season, your Locker will now have an option to select Cars. You’ll be able to choose your Car’s Decal, Body, and Wheels. If you’re a Rocket League player, you’ll be able to carry your previously owned items, such as Cyclone, Octane, or Lamborghini Huracane STO Car Bodies, as well as some wheels and decals.

New Augments

It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen Augments in the game, but they’ve made a return in Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 1. The Battle Royale season brings 27 new Reality Augments for players to enjoy, perfectly tying in with all the new features and items added.

Get Society Medallions by Taking Out Bosses.

You’ll be able to find five bosses across the map, each of them dropping a Society Medallion once defeated. You can keep the medallion in your inventory for your Shield to recover over time. The more Society Medallions you obtain, the more Shield will regenerate with each tick.

Match Quests & Reboot System

Every Fortnite player will have three Match Quests to select from at the start of each game in the new Fortnite season, completely replacing the old Daily Quest system. These Match Quests will be different for everyone and expire by the match's end. You will also get Bonus Goals that reset every day to reward you with more XP for finishing Match Quests.

Additionally, reboot vans have a brand-new feature, where if you are reviving an ally and accidentally step out of the range, the revive time will go down slowly instead of a complete reset.
