Highlights
Square Enix released the highly acclaimed action RPG Final Fantasy VII Rebirth last week and gathered widespread critical acclaim.
Many gamers are critiquing the game's performance mode. However, Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that an upcoming update will fix performance mode issues.

Final Fantasy (FF) 7 Rebirth has proven to be a huge success with critics and the public. The long-awaited second installment of the remake trilogy of one of the most popular titles of the franchise has indeed met high expectations. However, certain details could still be improved, such as the graphic aspect at certain moments of the game, especially when playing in performance mode. Fortunately, game director Naoki Hamaguchi is taking notes and has confirmed that the team is working on a graphical update to elevate the look of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in performance mode.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Performance Mode Patch Coming Soon

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s performance mode allows you to play the game at a stable 60 FPS. However, it does so by sacrificing some graphic details, but the development team thinks they can improve it. As per OneMoreGame, Naoki Hamaguchi stated that the development team is already working on an update that will boost Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s performance mode to ensure the game looks even more beautiful.

“We’ve received a lot of feedback on whether the graphics in the performance mode will be improved or not. We hear you, and we are currently working on an update patch to improve that aspect. I don’t think the release date would be far away from now.” He further added, “We have heard from players that in certain situations, the facial lighting makes some character shadows look very scary. So that’s one part of the update that we are working on.”

The facial lighting problem being referred to is the complaints of character shadows being 'scary' under some specific conditions. When asked about his preference between Graphics and performance modes, Hamaguchi chose the former.

Unfortunately, Hamaguchi refused to divulge what exactly to expect from the patch or even a release date, saying that fans wouldn’t have to wait too long to receive it.

Should You Play Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in Performance or Graphics Mode?

While playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you’ll be given the choice to play the game in performance mode or graphics mode.

Performance mode runs at a silky smooth 60 FPS and prioritizes framerate over graphical quality. This doesn’t mean the game looks bad by any means, but it won’t look as good as it could. Conversely, graphics mode allows the game to run at 30 FPS and focuses on various settings such as texture and shadow quality.

The choice between performance and graphics mode in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will largely depend on the type of player you are. If you want to play the game with the best frame rates possible, the performance mode will likely be your best option. However, if you want to experience every single detail, and the prettiest version of Garia, you must go with the graphics mode.
