Treyarch Studios has currently gone through four years of development for the upcoming COD title.
This new game will be the sixth entry into the Black Ops series and it is expected to be titled “Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War”
Activision seems to be targeting a release date sometime during the early winter of 2024.

After the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3  (COD: MW3), numerous fans of the long-established first-person shooter franchise are speculating about the next entry into the series. There have been several rumors and supposed leaks floating around the internet which mainly point out that the next iteration is currently under development by Treyarch Studios and it will be the next main entry into the Black Ops series. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming COD game so far.

The Next COD Game Could Be Titled “Black Ops Gulf War”

As numerous leaks suggested the next COD game to focus on the Gulf War, the exclusive article by WindowsCentral further corroborated this by stating that this upcoming title is based on the CIA’s involvement in the Gulf War that occurred during the '90s. Although this seems like a plausible setting,  Activision has yet to confirm or acknowledge any of this information.

According to the article by Jez Corden, this upcoming game is internally referred to as Black Ops 6 but its formal full name has apparently not been decided yet. However, if we go by past trends, we can expect the 2024 game to be titled “Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War”.

Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War: Setting and Gameplay Features

Multiple sources familiar with Activision’s plans expect the next Black Ops game to showcase the West’s secretive military involvement in global conflict scenarios. This Gulf War-focused setting deals with the first major conflict between Saddam Hussein’s Iraq and a Coalition led by US military forces combined with troops from the UK, making one of the biggest military coalitions since World War 2.

It was also the mark of a new era where global conflicts were heavily televised with certain missions like Operation Desert Storm even receiving live media coverage. Furthermore, the Gulf  War was the first time where the US engaged in large-scale tank battles.

While the Modern Warfare series focused on current and near-future tech, Black Ops will follow a more traditional route with an emphasis on past military trends and combat. Considering this, we can expect to see weapons and gadgets that were featured in previous mainline Black Ops games.

As we have seen in the past, we might also get to see iconic maps from the Black Ops series and make a return in this upcoming title. Certain game file leaks also seem to point toward a Zombie game mode. Unfortunately, posts made by certain leakers regarding the maps and the Zombie mode have since been deleted.

Call of Duty Gulf War: Expected Release Date, Early Access, and Platforms

While Activision has not made any specific announcements regarding this upcoming game, we can expect them to set a release date sometime around the start of winter next year. Although Activision-Blizzard was purchased by Microsoft in October of this year, we can expect the game to make its way to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Further leaks reported by InsiderGaming also suggest that they might also be available on previous-generation consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

We can also expect to see early access for the game offered as a pre-order bonus, as this seems to be the rising trend with the most recent video game launches.

That is pretty much everything we know so far about the upcoming COD Gulf War game. Activision has not yet officially confirmed or addressed any of this information, so please take it with a grain of salt.
