Highlights
Although CD Projekt Red is done with Cyberpunk 2077, game director Gabe Amatangelo believes that new updates can add more things to the game.
CDPR is currently also working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 codenamed "Project Iron", and the highly anticipated The Witcher 4.

While CD Projekt Red (CDPR) might insist that they're done with Cyberpunk 2077, the game could still get updates in the future. After being released in a rocky state in 2020, the studio has worked quite hard over the last couple of years to deliver the game promised to gamers. This was concluded with the release of the 2.0 and Phantom Liberty update. As the studio gets ready for upcoming titles, Cyberpunk 2077’s game director states that there could still be new updates coming to the game in the future.

Cyberpunk 2077 Game Director Teases Future Updates

Talking on the Friends Per Second Podcast, Gabe Amatangelo, the game director of Cyberpunk 2077,  was questioned if any future content is being developed or planned for the game other than patches fixing bugs. While Amatangelo didn't promise anything, he talked about the possibility of small implementations for Cyberpunk 2077 in the future.

The game director said, "There might be some small things in the future," and further added, "It really comes down to how the focus is working on the sequel for Cyberpunk, and as opportunities present themselves, if there's like a little something – a low-hanging fruit if you will, and someone on the team is passionate about it – we're open to it. Who's to say over the next couple of years, but nothing big."

According to Gabe Amatangelo, CDPR is moving from Cyberpunk 2077 to focus on The Witcher 4 primarily. Reports suggest that the next Witcher game is still years away from release. The studio is also developing a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. However, the project is likely in its early stages, and we won't hear about it for years.
While nothing is confirmed for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 update, players who want some kind of massive change can do it themselves. Even before last year's updates transformed the game, fans had invested years in creating some incredible mods that took every part of Night City to the next level. While it's not something by CD Projekt themselves, it's a great way to breathe life into an already completed project.
