Craig Mazin is an American screenplay writer who is known for producing,directing and writing several Hollywood movies and TV shows. In the world of entertainment, He is known for several screenplay writings of popular movie franchises such as The Hangover, Scary movie etc. He also worked on HBO’s mini series Chernobyl, which received outstanding reviews from several critics. He recently co-wrote for the TV adaptation of The Last Of Us along with Neil Druckmann. Similar to the game, the TV adaptation also became a massive hit. It received excellent reviews worldwide with an IMDb score of 8.8 and a 96% rating from Rotten Tomatoes.

What happened to Craig Mazin?

Considering his work with The Last Of Us, it is no surprise that Craig Mazin was also brought on board to co-write the movie adaptation of the popular video game franchise the Borderlands. Craig Mazin worked alongside popular director and writer Eli Roth.

The Borderlands movie was officially announced all the way back in 2015. There were several speculations among fans as to who would direct and write the movie. Finally, in 2020 it was decided that Eli Roth would work alongside Craig Mazin to add several creative elements to the movie version of Borderlands. Upon taking a look at the IMDb page for Borderlands, We can see that there are several notable celebrities like Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart and Jack Black playing key roles in the movie.

The movie adaptation of Borderlands is based on the first Borderlands game where a group of “Vault Hunters” from Pandora,are tasked with finding the daughter of a rich and powerful man named Atlas.The film has apparently completed its production in 2021 but it is now reportedly stuck in post production hell as written by World of Reel.

The Missing Credits

Craig Mazin’s name has apparently been removed from the credits section of Borderlands, as pointed out by World of Reel. There were also speculations that the Last of Us writer has used the pseudonym Joe Crombie but according to an article by Variety,

Craig has denied those claims.

In a statement to Variety, Craig Mazin had this to say “I am not a credited writer on the film, so I cannot claim any kind of authorship of ‘Borderlands,’ much less ‘co-writing,' 

“I did see the report about the pseudonym, which is false. I did not use a pseudonym. If the name in question is indeed a pseudonym, all I can say is… it’s not mine.”

Furthermore, IGN also reached out to Craig Mazin’s reps who said that the credits for movies come from the WGA and that the writers are not in control over it. His Publicist also added that Craig Mazin has “ nothing to do with the pen name Joe Crombie,”

Upon consideration of all these statements, it stands true that Craig Mazin will not appear in the credits section of the Borderlands movie.
