WWE 2K24 aims to celebrate 40 years of WrestleMania by showcasing iconic WWE superstars like Cody Rhodes, Rhea Ripley, and Bianca Belair on its cover. Apart from being the latest refresh for this year, the game features brand-new storylines along with new weapon types, and game modes to add to its impressive roster of over 200 wrestling superstars.
Although the game is popular on both older and current-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles, it can also be enjoyed on PC via Steam which has gotten many handheld gamers curious if they can run WWE 2K24 on their Steam Deck. Let’s cut to the chase and explore the device’s compatibility with this latest title.
Can the Steam Deck Handle WWE 2K24?
Although it is not Steam Deck-verified, WWE 2K24 can certainly be enjoyed on Valve’s handheld, thanks to its less-demanding system requirements. Considering it runs even on older-gen consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, it comes as no surprise that the Steam Deck’s RDNA GPU and Zen 2 cores are capable of handling the latest entry in the series.
However, you need to keep in mind that the game is currently suffering from many optimization issues, which are evident as soon as the loading screen appears. Steam Deck users reported green artifacts and other glitches appear on the in-game overlays such as the MYfactions menu you are greeted with, once you load into the game. Thankfully, these are not game-breaking by any means and they disappear as soon as you close the menu and enter a match.
Here are the best settings to achieve a smooth and consistent 60FPS gameplay experience on the Steam Deck:
Texture Quality: Standard
Windowed Mode: No
V-Sync: No
Action Camera FPS: 60
Shadows: On
Shadow Quality: Low
Shader Quality: Low
Anti-Aliasing: Off FXAA
Reflections: Low
Dynamic Scaling: AMD FSR 1
Sharpness: 5
Depth of Field: Off
Motion Blur: Off
Audience Density: 70
Multi-Superstar Performance Mode: Off
Using the aforementioned presets, we get a Performance Rank of A while running the in-game benchmarks. The game averages 64.3 FPS with a minimum of 43.8 and a maximum of 87.4 which is certainly enough for a game of this genre. You also need to know that Steam Deck’s own settings such as TDP limits, Frame Rate Limits, Half Rate Shading, Tearing, etc., have been turned off to utilize the hardware to its fullest.
However, if you are bothered by the jagged edges you can certainly turn up Anti-Aliasing to FXAA, although you would drop the FPS by 10-15 depending on the match. We also recommend enabling V-Sync and Capping the Max Frame Rate to 60 to avoid stuttering or sudden frame rate jumps.
