September has been a month filled with amazing games from various developers. We got to see the release of Bethesda’s Starfield, Payday 3, The Crew Motorfest, Lies of P, NBA 2K24, and more. Following the same trend, October will also continue to see several blockbuster game titles from well-known studios. Although these games span different genres, most of them will offer captivating storytelling and immersive game worlds that will leave you spellbound. Let’s jump right in and take a look at some highly anticipated releases for October.
Upcoming Titles Releasing This October
Forza Motorsport
Turn 10 and Xbox Game Studios are back at it again to create a feature-rich, comprehensive sim racing game with this year’s Forza Motorsport. With updated visuals, Raytracing, and improved game physics, many are calling this the most technically advanced racing game ever made. Although the comparisons are not out yet, it is safe to say that this next installment from the long list of Forza games will probably be the biggest racing game of this year.
Forza Motorsport is hitting the shelves on 10th October for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria
This one is a survival game with a main emphasis on crafting. Players embark on an adventure with Dwarves to reclaim their legendary home of Moira which is hidden beneath the Misty Mountains. You will get to explore several sprawling mines where you need to be aware of the mysterious dangers that lie ahead. The devs have mentioned that they have been inspired by games like The Forest, Valheim, and Subnautica, so we can certainly expect elements from those games to be present here as well.
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria lands on PlayStation 5 and PC on 27th October.
Sonic Superstars
This class high-speed action platformer will allow you to explore the mystical Northstar Islands as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose. Sonic Superstars features re-imagined powers, skills, and new gameplay styles to further enhance the immersion. While the mechanics are very much 2D-like, the visual elements look far more impressive with a vibrant color palette. You also get access to up to 4 player co-op to duke it out with your friends.
Sonic Superstars will be available on 17th October for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Ubisoft’s latest AC game will take players to the ancient city of Baghdad where you will take on the role of Basim Ibn-Ishaq, a cunning street thief who joins the brotherhood. The studio attempts to take the franchise back to its roots by featuring stealth and parkour elements from the first Assassin’s Creed games. Although the map size is smaller when compared to Valhalla, you can expect dense environments filled with various activities to do.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage releases on 5th October for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Cities Skylines 2
Developed by Paradox Interactive, this game is a direct sequel to Cities Skylines where players get to build and plan cities with intricate details. This simulator even comes with an active economy where you get complete control over your city’s development. It builds upon the first game by improving its AI to effectively deal with traffic, population sizes, and overall management. Apart from deep simulation, the game features changeable weather which will also have an impact on your city’s growth amidst the rising population and seasonal challenges.
Cities Skylines 2 will hit the shelves on 24th October for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2
Insomniac’s sequel to Spider-Man and Miles Morales combined elements from both titles to provide an enthralling superhero experience. Apart from slight graphical improvements, the game features the ability to seamlessly switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales which is the first in the series. You will also see branching storylines and gameplay elements that add new skills and gadgets to the mix. This is arguably one of the most anticipated titles of this year, especially for PlayStation users.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released on 20th October exclusively on PlayStation 5.
Those are pretty much all the major games you need to look out for this October. Keep in mind that they are not ranked in any order. All the games except for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available on PC.
