With a staggering zenith of 800,000+ concurrent players, Baldur’s Gate 3 has become one of the biggest role playing games since its release. The rising popularity of the game can be attributed to the strategic marketing tactics by Larian Studios and word-of-mouth praise from the enthusiastic community.
Positive reviews are pouring in in huge numbers, taking the game to new heights. There is a 92% positive review rate on Steam, and the community reaction has been generally positive, with constructive criticism for the developers here and there.
Baldur’s Gate 3: 800,000+ Concurrent Players
Baldur’s Gate 3 has surpassed various expectations, making it one of the top selling games on Steam. Initially, the game peaked at different rates, with 400,000+ concurrent players and then 700,000+ concurrent players. Over the weekend, however, it managed to surpass a considerable margin and has garnered over 800,000 Baldur’s Gate 3 players.
This is an impressive feat, and something that the head of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, was not expecting. In a tweet, after the game crossed 500K players, he mentioned how he was expecting a turnout of just 100,000 concurrent players.
The last game by Larian Studios, Divinity: Original Sin 2, had amassed just 90,000 concurrent players in comparison. However, Baldur’s Gate 3 has proven itself to be an exceptional role playing game with diverse storylines and immersive gameplay that has definitely added to the success of the game.
While these records present only one side of the coin, even the PlayStation version has managed to gain traction. According to a tweet by analyst Benji Sales, Baldur’s Gate 3 has become the #1 Best Selling Pre-Order in the US.
Not much is known about the Xbox Series X|S versions yet, but it is speculated that they are under development and fans will hear soon about them.
