Baldur’s Gate 3
As the launch date for Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) draws closer, Larian Studios decided to wrap things up in a community post on Steam. Many questions regarding the game's features and launch were answered. However, one question lingered in the minds of every BG3 fan. Will the game be available for preloading?
The game is significantly heavy, requiring 122 GB of space, and will not be available for preloading. The highly anticipated game will only be fully accessible after its launch on 3rd August 2023.
No Pre-Loading Available For Baldur’s Gate 3
Taking up some questions collectively in the Steam community post, Larian Studios reported that they want a fresh start for the game after providing a three year gap between early access and the global release of the game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year, and just as fans were getting ready to prepare for the launch, Larian Studios announced, “Baldur’s Gate 3 will launch on August 3rd at 5pm Gent time, or your non-Belgian timezone equivalent as shown above. There will be no pre-loading of the game before then.”
This has left many fans disappointed, as 122 GB is quite a sizable amount and will affect many players with a weak or unstable internet connection. However, Larian Studios has emphasized the fact that no Early Access files will be compatible with the global release, remarking, “So much has changed that it’s really worth it to start afresh.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 is expected to be one of the biggest video games this year, with its extraordinary role playing elements and action-packed storyline. Larian Studios also revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 will be cross-save compatible, meaning if you wish to change from a PC to a PlayStation 5 upon the release of the PS5 version, you can do so hassle-free. You can save your progress by uploading it to the cloud using your Larian account, and you can access the game on any device.
While Larian has confirmed the launch of the PlayStation version on 6th September 2023, this will only be limited to PS4 and PS5. However, no confirmation about an Xbox launch has been made, though it is speculated that it is under development.
