Ubisoft has officially disclosed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is going to be short. In an exclusive interview with French YouTuber, Juliene Chieze, the lead producer of Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, Fabian Solomon revealed that the players can expect a completion time of 30 hours, which can be shortened to 20 if you rush through.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the latest addition to the renowned franchise and is set to be shorter than its predecessors. Releasing on 12th October 2023, the game is a throwback to its classic titles like Assassin’s Creed Unity and Syndicate.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage: All We Know
According to the French interview, translated by PCgamesn, the game will last for 30 hours on average. In the interview, at 17:04, Solomon says, “Given that we do a lot of playtesting internally at Ubisoft, it’s part of our process, we really want to get as close as possible to the players, so we’ll say that the latest playtimes we’ve received average at around 20-23 hours.” For completionists, he adds, the game can go on for 30 hours.
This is a significant update that marks a clear distinction from previous titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which takes a staggering 100 hours to complete. Relieving fans from a daunting experience throughout the last three installments, the new version returns to its roots with a shorter playtime.
With the 2017 installment, Assassin’s Creed Origins, the franchise welcomed colossal role playing elements that extended the game’s duration to almost 100 hours. The games featured an adventurous, open world that exhausted the players by the time they completed the game. Players traversed the large, expansive maps, exploring regions of Egypt, Ancient Greece and Old England.
Ubisoft takes a different approach in the new installment with its decision to scale things back with Mirage. The upcoming version will center around a single city, Baghdad, with a ‘History of the City’ feature, allowing players to familiarize themselves with the city’s rich culture, politics and religion. The game is returning to its classic elements with an emphasis on missions rather than the RPG designs that were started in 2017. This return to AC’s classic titles is anticipated to refresh the gaming experience for players who have grown weary of the lengthy, grandiose adventures.
Fans seem pleased with Ubisoft's decision to scale down the length of the game and revert to the elements that initially fascinated them. Set in the historical city of Baghdad, the players will assume the role of assassin Basim Ibn Ishaq. The game is scheduled to release on 12th October 2023 on various gaming platforms like PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and 5.
