In Last Epoch, you play a good old Action RPG for the most part but the experience takes a significant turn with the introduction of Mastery Classes. Mastery Classes are a key feature that sets Last Epoch apart from other dungeon crawlers, allowing players to tailor their characters to their preferred style of play. Mastery classes include powerful skills and passive bonuses but unlocking them is not as straightforward as leveling up. Here's everything you need to know about unlocking Mastery Classes in Last Epoch.
Unlocking Your Mastery Class
To unlock your Mastery Class in Last Epoch, you must progress through the main campaign until you reach Chapter 4. At the beginning of Chapter 4, after completing Chapter 3 in the Ruined Era, you will arrive at the End of Time, where you can choose your Mastery as part of the main story.
Before you can unlock your Mastery, you need to have invested at least 20 points into your base class skill tree. This requirement ensures that players have developed their characters sufficiently before unlocking the powerful abilities offered by Mastery Classes.
List of Mastery Classes
Here are all the Mastery Classes available in Last Epoch, grouped by base class:
Sentinel: Paladin, Void Knight, Forge Guard
Mage: Runemaster, Spellblade, Sorcerer
Primalist: Shaman, Beastmaster, Druid
Acolyte: Lich, Necromancer, Warlock
Rogue: Falconer, Marksman, Bladedancer
Choosing Your Mastery
Once you meet the requirements, head to the End of Time and speak with Elder Gaspar. He will guide you through the process of selecting your Mastery Class. Each class in Last Epoch has three Mastery Classes to choose from, each offering unique playstyles and abilities.
It's important to note that your choice of Mastery is permanent and cannot be changed. Therefore, it's essential to consider your playstyle and build preferences before making your selection.
Using Your Mastery Class
After selecting your Mastery Class, you will immediately gain access to your Mastery's Mastery Skill. However, to unlock the rest of the Mastery's exclusive skills, you'll need to invest more Passive Points into the Mastery's Passive tree.
While you cannot change your Mastery Class once selected, you can respec the Passive Points you've invested in your Mastery tree to reallocate them at any point by speaking to the applicable NPC in town.
Each Mastery Class offers a unique and powerful playstyle, so players should choose based on their preferred gameplay style and build strategy.
