Free-to-play games are gradually becoming popular due to their budget-friendly nature.
Here are 5 upcoming free-to-play games that provide much needed recreation without draining pockets.

In the past few years, people have witnessed an influx in the gaming sector. While previously gaming was approached as a mere source of recreation, it has now moved into the mainstream and has become more than just gaming. With the rise of competition, gaming companies have started capitalizing on it, and it is expensive. Players are left with empty pockets, and sometimes dissatisfied with the games they pay for.

This is where free-to-play games step in. Many companies have followed this model to keep players entertained without draining their budgets. Here is a curated list of some upcoming free-to-play games that promise a new gaming experience.

List of 5 Upcoming Free-To-Play Games

1. Arknights: Endfield

This is a real time 3D role playing game and is one of the most established projects in the gaming world. It also has a successful anime adaptation and an upcoming version, which will continue to expand the franchise. Fans eagerly await the game as they gear up to defend the planet Talos II from any catastrophe.

This highly anticipated game focuses on providing a modern gaming experience with real time combat strategy. While not much is known about the game, it is clear that the creators are ready to test out the new installment on PC, an area that has yet to be explored by them.

2. Star Wars: Hunters

It is a delight to see a big franchise like Star Wars bring a free game to the Nintendo Switch, making Hunters a console-exclusive game. The game offers a melee combat strategy with third-person shooting mode in this player versus player arena.

Star Wars offers an impressive range of fighters that are categorized into different classes. The game is creating high buzz due to its extensive customization assets that feature original character creations rather than rigid, established characters. However, these creations are still known to fit into certain archetypes like the Rebel War Hero, Wookie Juggernaut, and Bounty Hunter.

3. XDefiant

Finding parallels to many other player versus player ventures in the market, Ubisoft’s XDefiant is an FPS (first person shooter) game that amalgamates various Ubisoft franchises, delineating them as separate guilds. The game comes with diverse strengths and abilities. After the players pick a character and personalizes their weapon loadout, they work alongside a roster in arena-style battles. These take place within maps that find inspiration from Ubisoft’s published games.

The game’s open beta successfully generated buzz among the audience. While not inherently unique, XDefiant borrows some of its best ideas from the old Call of Duty games.

4. Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland

As part of The Division franchise, Ubisoft is bringing its next installment to the free-to-play segment. However, such games by Ubisoft are not able to touch the soaring skies. Even the recent free-to-play Roller Champions could not garner a large audience. But The Division has previously delivered some decent online free-to-play games.

There is not much known about the new installment, but we do know that the game will feature a PvPvE (Player versus Player versus Environment) mode where 45 players will battle against each other.

5. MultiVersus

This is a mascot fighter game that was available in early access for nearly a year. Given the title’s popularity, the majority of people have already tried it out. While the game came with its issues, it has left a positive imprint on the audience. And the developers have gathered enough feedback to incorporate and improve the game before its official release in 2024.

New players cannot access the game anymore. However, existing beta users can continue to enjoy some offline gaming segments like The Lab. MultiVersus is speculated to be one of the biggest releases in the free-to-play world in 2024.
