Highlights
EA FC 24 brings options to change a player’s position for both Career Mode and the Ultimate Team game mode.
Changing positions in Career Mode will make your selected player take some time off your roster and endure training to fit into the newly assigned role.
This may take anywhere from two weeks to a whole year depending upon the type of position you have assigned.

EA FC 24 has been out for about a week now and players are still exploring the variety of changes and improvements it brings to the table. In this newest entry, you have the option to intuitively change player positions both in Ultimate Team and in Career Mode. Footballers in FC 24 can dynamically change their position in order to bring flexibility to their squad. It is now more important than ever to be aware of your player’s strengths and weaknesses in each role you make them play. If you are trying to figure out how to change these positions, you have stumbled upon the right article. Let’s take a look!

How to Change Positions in Career Mode in EA FC 24?

By following these simple steps, you can make a specific player on your team learn new positions in Career Mode. This method will work for all players such as defenders, strikers, midfielders, and even goalkeepers. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Head into Career Mode in EA Sports FC 24

  • Scroll down to the Squads tab and then get into Squad Hub

  • Select the specific player whose position you want to change

  • Click on Development Plan

  • Press RT or R2 (depending on whether you use PlayStation or Xbox) or the PC equivalent of the same key and select the new position you want the player to learn

  • You will be shown the estimated time it takes for this player to complete their training in this new position

  • Once they are ready to change positions, you will receive an e-mail.

  • Once you have received the mail, head back into the Squads Hub where you will now notice a white banner giving you the option to Change Position

  • Select this option and press on Triangle, A, or the PC equivalent key to confirm your changes.

Remember that you will have to wait a minimum of two weeks for your selected player to finish training and play matches in their new position. It is also important to know that drastically changing players' positions will shoot up your estimated training time for as long as one whole year! For example, if you train your defender to take up the position of a striker, it will take them a considerable amount of time to adapt to their brand-new role. Make sure to assign relevant positions and not take drastic decisions that will impact your team’s dynamics.

How to Change Player Positions in Ultimate Team Mode?

Compared to the previous installments in the series, it is now easier than ever to change your player’s role in Ultimate Team. if you head into the Transfer Market make sure to flick your right analog stick to the right (By pressing R3 on PlayStation or RS on Xbox), so you can see the pre-disposed positions that a specific player can cover. This will help you plan out a better roster, rather than wasting valuable coins on unwanted players.

Typically, one player is flexible to play in four different positions, including their original role. Once you buy a new player, head into squads and simply move this player from your clubs to whatever position you want to assign them to. They will automatically slot into that role, provided they already have the flexibility to play that position.

That is pretty much how player positioning works in EA Sports FC 24. The game is available on a variety of platforms such as the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
