Highlights
Seneschal Companions in Diablo 4 Season 3 promise to shake up the gameplay and offer some exciting possibilities.
The companions are highly customizable thanks to Governing and Tuning Stones you acquire throughout your adventures.

The upcoming Season of the Construct in Diablo 4 will introduce a new "pet' to the game. Starting 23rd January, the new season will allow players to bring a mechanical spider (known as the Seneschal Companion) wherever they go. This arachnid ally can be customized with potent skills, similar to the vampiric powers seen in the previous season. Throughout the seasonal questline, players can tailor the Seneschal to complement their specific build.

How Does The Seneschal Companion Work in Diablo 4

The Seneschal Companion will copy player stats and they can be powered up using new items. In the upcoming season, players will come across a set of unique magical stone items, categorized into 12 "governing" stones and 27 "tuning" stones of various rarities. These items will be obtained by defeating enemies in "Arcane Tremors" scattered across the open world and seasonal dungeons known as vaults.

The Seneschal can equip two governing stones, serving as basic abilities, and players can further enhance them by attaching tuning stones to modify each ability.

  • Governing Stones: determine your Seneschal's main attack abilities (choose 2 out of 12).

  • Tuning Stones: enhance and modify those abilities (27 different ones to collect and upgrade).

You can mix and match stones to tailor your Seneschal to your playstyle and build. The companion scales with your stats, growing stronger as you do.

Reassuringly, the Seneschal is impervious to death, as stated by Daniel Tanguay, senior manager of game design, during a recent group interview with PC Gamer. Tanguay emphasized the companion's scalability with the player's character power, ensuring that it remains valuable throughout the game. "We wanted to avoid the situation where you basically upgrade to the point where your Seneschal is useless," Tanguay explained.

The sentient automatons powered by the Loom, a mysterious technology from Sanctuary's past. They function as your companion throughout the season, fighting alongside you or providing support.
