The Foul Invoker of Varshan is a craftable item that you need to fight an Echo of Varshan during the Season of the Malignant. Something that the game does not tell you is that if you try to use the Invoker in World Tier 3, it might not summon Varshan. You need to drop your World Tier to 1 or 2 and then redo the process. This is an issue that will get fixed but you should keep the workaround in mind in case you have issues getting the Echo of Varshan to spawn. With that out of the way, here’s how you can get the Foul Invoker of Varshan in order to repeat the Echo of Varshan boss fight for a chance to obtain Wrathful Hearts.
How to get the Foul Invoker of Varshan in Diablo 4
Defeat the Varshan boss with Cormond as part of the seasonal questline.
After completing the boss and questline, Cormond will reward you with a cache containing the recipe for the Invoker of Varshan. Consume the recipe to unlock it.
Craft the Invoker of Varshan at Cormond's workbench using the following materials: One Vicious Malignant Invoker, One Devious Malignant Invoker, One Brutal Malignant Invoker, and One Demon Heart.
Once you have crafted the Invoker of Varshan, you'll need to find a Malignant Tunnel dungeon that contains Varshan's boss door. The Boiling Wound in the Fractured Peaks is a good location for this. Complete the dungeon, proceed through the dispelled barrier to find Varshan's boss door, and use the Invoker of Varshan on the node to summon him.
Diablo 4 Echo of Varshan drops
Defeating Varshan has a chance to drop Wrathful Hearts, and you may also obtain new recipes for invokers. The recipe for the Foul Invoker of Varshan drops after defeating the first Echo of Varshan on Adventurer or Veteran World Tier (1 and 2). This invoker is specifically linked to the Nightmare World Tier and requires One Invoker of Varshan and 50 Sigil Powder to craft. You can obtain Sigil Powder by scrapping Nightmare Dungeon sigils, but you need to complete a tier three Nightmare Dungeon to unlock sigil crafting at the Occultist first.
The most powerful version of the Invoker of Varshan is the Tormented Invoker of Varshan. To obtain the recipe for this invoker, you need to defeat Varshan using the Foul Invoker. Once you have the recipe, you can craft it using Five Forgotten Souls, Five Fiend Roses, and One Invoker of Varshan. The materials for this invoker can be obtained from Helltide events in Nightmare World Tier.
Keep in mind that the Tormented Invoker of Varshan can only be used in Torment World Tier. While I haven't reached Torment in the new season yet, it is likely that defeating Varshan with this invoker has a chance to drop the most powerful Wrathful Hearts.
