Despite having one of the most smooth game launches of 2023, Diablo 4, like all other games has been plagued with a number of glitches, bugs, and other technical issues that players can typically expect with a game launch. However, Blizzard has been quick and responsive in regard to these issues and has been releasing hotfixes in quick succession to fix them. Thanks to Hotfix 12 which was published this week to remedy a long-standing glitch, Diablo 4's Druid players can now anticipate discovering Uniques designed for their class. The bug in question made it so that Druid players in Diablo 4 would find Unique items made not for a Druid but for the Barbarian class.

Thankfully, that is no longer the case. Druid players will no longer be able to obtain the Overkill, Hellhammer, and Ancient's Oath Uniques that were originally intended for Barbarians. If you already have one of these Uniques equipped on your Druid, you can keep it if you were using it, but the items will be unusable if you unequip them.

Diablo 4 - Hotfix12 - June 23, 2023 - 1.0.2

The rest of the notes were brief and only dealt with the Sorcerer class. You can find the full set of notes for Diablo 4 Hotfix 12 below:

Gameplay Fixes

  • The Barbarian Unique weapons "Overkill", "Hellhammer", and "Ancient's Oath" will no longer drop for Druid players.

Developer Note: We should forewarn that Druid players who have these weapons already equipped can still use them, but don’t be able to re-equip them if you’re removing your weapon slot. They will not allow Druid players to use these uniques in advance.

Class Changes

Sorcerer

  • Fixed an issue where the increased damage from the Sorcerer's "Combustion" ability was not applying correctly.

Bug Fixes

  • Further stability and improvements.

  • Fixed an issue where the Sorcerer's "Ice Shards" ability would cause excessive controller vibration.

Certain adjustments were made to the Hammer of the Ancients in Hotfix 12. However, as indicated in their comments, the alteration accidentally damaged the weapon's performance. As a result, they were forced to rush and apply another repair a few hours later.

The devs released this note shortly after addressing this.

“Earlier today, we pushed out Hotfix 12 which included stability and performance improvement changes that affected Hammer of the Ancients. These changes were strictly for backend performance, but unintentionally also affected gameplay. There were no plans to reduce the damage of Hammer of the Ancients with this change. We have reverted this change as this was not intended.”

Most of these hotfix updates are server-side, meaning you won't even see an update download on your side. However, this doesn't mean these Diablo 4 hotfix updates are not important, as Blizzard can nerf a farming spot and even disable Legendary Aspects and buff/nerf classes or items on the fly.
