The Valorant Champions 2022 skin bundle is a collection of in-game items themed around the recently concluded world championship event. It generated over $20 Million USD for the participating teams. The International 11 had a prize pool of $19 Million USD in comparison, which speaks volumes about Valorant's rise as a competitive esports title.
The bundle was launched on 23rd August and it was made available until 21st September. 50% of the net proceeds from the sales go towards the teams which means that Riot Games has generated over $40 Million USD through the sale of the bundle considering over $20 Million is going to teams.
Valorant Champions Bundle Raised Over $20 Million USD
Riot Games had said that the proceeds of the bundle will be distributed evenly to all teams participating in the event. The 16 teams at the event have been allotted around $1.25 Million USD each. The 2022 bundle featured the Champion’s Aura, which is a visual effect that makes the skins in the collection glow when you become the top fragger in the game. The bundle was priced at 6,167 Valorant Points ($60 USD). The items individually costed 9,200 Valorant Points ($90).
The bundle included a Phantom skin and a Knife skin that have exclusive visual effects and auras which can be generated by getting kills. The new bundle collection also includes changes to the previous Champions Bundle. Riot added a visual effect that evolves every 5 kills and it caps out at 25 kills, and a special easter egg on the butterfly knife that triggers if you’re top fragging and have at least 25 kills.
The previous Champions bundle generated $18.7 Million USD in revenue and it included the Champions Vandal skin, three player cards, the Champion title, Champion Karambit melee skin, and more. The 2022 bundle surpassed the 2021 bundle and the prize pool became even bigger.
The proceeds from the bundle are awarded in addition to the $1 Million USD prize pool. Unlike the prize money which will be distributed based on the teams’ performance at the event, the Champions Bundle proceeds are distributed evenly. Needless to say, none of the 16 teams that participated in the world championship went home too disappointed.
