Skyesports to Host Valorant Champions Tours’ South Asia Challengers for Stage Two
India-based tournament organizer Skyesports announced that it will be hosting the official Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Stage 2 South Asia (SA) Challengers event. Teams in the South Asian region will be able to compete in the Asia-Pacific Challengers event which is a gateway to Stage Two Masters.
VCT South Asia Stage Two Challengers Event Overview
Skyesports’ Valorant Champions Tour event is the gateway to the Asia Pacific (APAC) Challenger Playoffs, the regional event that will offer a slot for the VCT Masters Two later this year.
Details of the upcoming event have not been revealed yet but Skyesports said in its official announcement that more details about registration and the format will be available soon.
In Stage One, NODWIN Gaming’s Valorant Conquerors Championship was the official event for making it to the APAC Challengers. India’s Velocity Gaming and Global Esports qualified via the event but both teams failed to secure a qualification spot for the ongoing Valorant Masters Reykjavik event.
Unlike Valorant Conquerors Championship 2021 which offered a single chance for South Asia to represent itself at the APAC Last Chance Qualifiers, VCC 2022 will offer direct entry to Stage One and Two of the Asia Pacific (APAC) Challengers events. With two chances to make it to Champions, South Asia is getting two opportunities to make it to Valorant Champions this year.
If players from the region can step up to the competition, fans can witness a South Asian team representing the region at the world championship for the first time later this year. Teams from India have made it to international VCT events so far and the upcoming VCT SA Challengers event could potentially see a team from a different country in South Asia make it to the APAC stage as well.
