Paper Rex and Xerxia Esports Qualify for Valorant Champions Tour Masters One

Paper Rex beat Xerxia Esports at the Valorant Champions Tour Asia-Pacific (APAC) Challengers One grand final to take home $30,000 USD in prize money as well the biggest share of Valorant Circuit Points offered at the event. With the APAC region getting two slots for Masters One, Xerxia has also qualified for the upcoming Valorant Masters Reykjavik event. Masters One will kick off on 10th April with the grand final set to take place on 24th April 2022.

Paper Rex and Xerxia have a lot to prove heading into Masters One

In 2021, none of the APAC teams qualified for the world championships via the Masters events. It will be up to Paper Rex and Xerxia to prove that the APAC region can compete with the best in the world. Both teams have been very consistent throughout Stage One.

Paper Rex beat Xerxia 2-0 at the upper bracket semi-finals in the Challengers event, but Xerxia managed to win every single matchup since then to make its way back to the finals and put on a great fight against Paper Rex. The grand final could have gone either way with the series going all the way to map five.

Paper Rex has been in prime form this year with the team staying unbeaten in the group stages of the APAC challengers event and it did not drop a single map in the knockout stages before the grand final.

While Xerxia is yet to compete at an international Valorant LAN event, Paper Rex was part of multiple international LAN events last year. Paper Rex exited early from Stage Three Masters after suffering defeats against Vision Strikers and SuperMassiveBlaze. The team had a second chance during the APAC Last Chance qualifier and it started off strong with a 2-0 win against Indian team Global Esports. But the team lost its chance to make it to the world championship after suffering back-to-back defeats against Northeption and DAMWON Gaming. It is a fresh start for Paper Rex and it will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2021

Xerxia on the other hand will be going up against the best teams in North America, Latin America and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) for the first time. The team has performed well in Thailand and at APAC events, and its fans will be excited to see how the players perform at Reykjavik next month.
