Overwatch World Cup 2023 (OWWC 2023) is the biggest international competitive tournament for the title and the entire community is excited to witness the return of this grand event after four long years.

It is all set to take place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, USA, from 29^th October to 4^th November, alongside BlizzCon 2023 which is also coming back after a gap of four years.

A total of 16 teams have qualified through various regional qualifiers to cement a slot for themselves in the LAN event whose total prize pool is being crowdfunded and has not been fixed till now.

This will be the fifth global championship for Overwatch and the first in the last four years, all set to take place on LAN in front of a live audience.

To date, South Korea has won three world cups, all of them in succession from 2016 to 2018, followed by the USA winning the most recent one in 2019, which makes them the current defending champions.

Now the fight is on to see which country will be able to leave its mark as the first Overwatch 2 World Cup winner!

OWWC 2023: Format

Group Stage

• All 16 teams have been divided into four groups of four teams each.

• Each group will follow a round robin format where each match will be a best-of-three series.

• The top two teams from each group will advance.

• All these matches will be played behind closed doors at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Playoffs

• The eight qualified teams will follow a single elimination bracket.

• Here every match is going to be a best-of-five featuring different game modes like Control, Hybrid, Flashpoint, Push, and Escort.

• All these matches will be played in front of a live audience at the Anaheim Convention Center.

OWWC 2023: Prize Pool

The total prize pool for the tournament came out to be $365,000 USD following the crowdfunding efforts via the sales of bundles including exclusive limited-time skins and items.
