Highlights
Overwatch 2's new characters are yet to be announced. Sojourn is the only new character known right now and is a part of the ongoing beta.
Blizzard has not revealed a release schedule for upcoming characters.
It is likely that Overwatch 2 will follow a similar release schedule as its predecessor with multiple heroes releasing every year.

Overwatch 2 is set to get new heroes but Blizzard has added only Sojourn in the current PVP (Player Versus Player) beta. The developers have yet to confirm if more heroes will be available at launch or if they will be added later. Overwatch 1 used to receive new heroes and maps every few months and Overwatch 2 might follow a similar trend. Sojourn is just the first among Overwatch 2’s new heroes and she has already made herself comfortable in the current cast. The DPS (Damage Per Second) hero has a railgun and has consistent damage capabilities with a one-shot mechanic that you can charge by constantly dealing damage.

Overwatch 2 New Characters - Sojourn

Sojourn is the first in line among Overwatch 2’s new characters. She is the former Overwatch captain and was also in the special forces as an operative. The Canadian soldier is the newest DPS hero with a projectile primary weapon, hitscan abilities and a deadly secondary fire.

Weapon - Railgun

  • Primary Fire: Rapid firing projectiles that generate energy on impact.

  • Damage: 9 damage per shot

  • Ammo: 40

  • Ammo usage: 11 ammo per second

  • Headshot: Yes

  • Secondary Fire: High impact shot that consumes stored energy.

  • Damage: 1.3 - 130

  • Cooldown: None

  • Headshot: Yes

Sojourn's secondary fire uses energy generated from getting hits through her primary fire. It can be fired when charged to a maximum of 100 energy.

Ability - Power Slide (Shift)

Sojourn’s Power Slide ability is a ground slide that can cancel into a high jump to gain distance and height. It has a 7-second cooldown.

Ability - Disruptor Shot

Sojourn launches an energy shot that slows and deals damage to enemies within it. Disruptor Shot is an Area of Effect ability that will snare enemies and can chip away enemy health.

  • Damage: 210 damage

  • Cooldown: 15 seconds

  • Headshot: No

Ultimate - Overclock

Railgun energy auto-charges for a short duration and charged shots pierce enemies. She can secure multiple one-shot kills on squishy enemies if you can secure headshots. Overclock takes 1.2 seconds to fully recharge Sojourn’s energy to prevent her from spamming shots.

What other new characters are coming to Overwatch 2?

Overwatch 2’s new characters have not yet been revealed. Sojourn is the only new hero known as of now. It is unknown if more heroes will be available at launch or if Blizzard will release them when Overwatch 2 comes out of beta.
