Indian organizations Orangutan Female and Global Esports Phoenix have reached the main event of VCT 2023: Game Changers APAC Open 1.
They qualified through the Swiss Stage with a '5-1' scoreline and will now be competing in the Playoffs which features a double-elimination bracket.
Orangutan Female will take on BIG SCYTHE while Global Esports Phoenix goes against Team SMG on 15th March.

The first open qualifier of the VCT 2023: Game Changers APAC Open 1 has concluded with the top eight female Valorant teams moving ahead to the main event, ready to clash against each other in a double-elimination format scheduled to take place from 15th to 19th March.

Indian organizations, Orangutan Female and Global Esports Phoenix are amongst the teams that have qualified for the main event, following a solid '5-1' run in the swiss stage.

Orangutan Female and Global Esports Phoenix will kick off their journey in the playoffs on 15th March against BIG SCYTHE and Team SMG respectively. It is going to be a tough challenge because both these teams have not dropped a single match so far in this tournament.

VCT 2023 Game Changers APAC Open 1: Orangutan Female and Global Esports Phoenix qualify for the main event

This is the first tournament of the eight-month-long VCT Game Changers circuit which will be running for a duration of eight months from March to October featuring a total prize pool of $75,000 USD.

A total of 70 teams from across South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania regions participated in the first open tournament of the season, but only eight of them qualified for the main event.

The first stage of this tournament followed a swiss system which made things very interesting as team qualified with varying win-loss scorelines. Team SMG became the only team to qualify that did not drop a single map, while Sapphire despite losing on one map has also remained undefeated.

Both the Indian organizations dropped just one map each, Global Esports Phoenix losing to Capybara GanG while Orangutan Female lost to RRQ Kaguya.

The second stage will feature a double-elimination bracket and will be taking place from 15th to 19th March with a total prize pool of $10,000 USD on the line.

All the top eight teams will be receiving a piece of the total prize money along with some points which will contribute to their overall placement.

It will be interesting to see how the Indian organizations go on to perform from here on out, as the best female teams from the APAC region fight hard to attain supremacy.
