India is experiencing rapid growth in mobile and PC game revenue according to market analyst Niko Partners in its Asia Games Market Report for 2021. The market research firm revealed that the Asia-10 gaming market will experience strong growth over the next five years with the potential number of mobile and PC gamers projected to reach over 940 million by 2025. Within that India’s gaming audience will encompass over 330 million players by 2025 according to the report.
The Asian market will see several forms of growth in the next few years
The ‘Asia Games Market Report’ showcases data on the Asia-10 region which features Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, and India. These 10 countries are expected to reach over 940 million gamers by 2025. The nearly one billion gamers are projected to spend approximately $41.8 billion USD on mobile and PC games based on the region’s overall compound annual growth rate (CAGR).
According to Niko Partners’ report, the market for cloud gaming will allegedly triple to around 500 million users in the next five years. With the introduction of services like Microsoft Game Pass, owning high-end hardware is not necessary to enjoy high-quality games.
However, network connectivity still continues to be an issue for cloud gaming services in regions with subpar internet connectivity and it remains to be seen if significantly better network infrastructure is introduced in the near future.
India’s PC and mobile game revenue is expected to reach $534.1 million in 2021 and $1.49 billion in 2025. India’s PC and mobile gamers will grow at a 5-year CAGR of 13.7%, reaching 529.1 million in 2025 and the country is expected to account for 56% of all mobile and PC gamers in the Asia-10 region. It is already the second biggest games market in the world, behind China.
India is currently more engaged than any other market and is the fastest-growing region in Asia 10 due to the low cost of 4G data, affordable smartphones, and the availability of quality gaming and esports titles that are free to play.
