Riot Games decided to formally withdraw the related lawsuits.

After years of legal battles and intense scrutiny, MOONTON Games and Riot Games have finally reached a global settlement regarding their intellectual property disputes. The culmination of several rounds of communication has led to the signing of a settlement agreement by both parties. As a result, Riot Games has made the decision to formally withdraw the lawsuits it had filed against MOONTON.

The conflict between the two game developers stemmed from allegations of copyright infringement. Riot Games, renowned for its immensely popular video game League of Legends (LoL), had accused MOONTON Technology Co., the developer behind Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), of copying various elements from its flagship title. These allegations included similarities in characters, abilities, and overall gameplay mechanics.

The lawsuit between gaming titans Moonton Games and Riot Games ignited fervent debates among gamers worldwide, as enthusiasts dissected the purported similarities between the two publisher’s flagship titles.

Back in May 2022, Riot Games reportedly sued Shanghai Moonton Technology Co. in Los Angeles Federal Court for allegedly copying several elements from its mobile MOBA title, League of Legends: Wild Rift. A few months after the lawsuit was filed, the US court came to the conclusion that the case was better suited to be settled in China.

It was not until recently that this conflict was settled with both parties reaching a global agreement on their intellectual property disputes. The resolution brings an end to years of legal uncertainty and speculation within the gaming community. While the specifics of the settlement remain confidential, the withdrawal of lawsuits by Riot Games signifies a mutual understanding between the two companies.

With the conclusion of this legal saga, both MOONTON Games and Riot Games can now focus their efforts on delivering innovative gaming experiences to their respective communities. The resolution marks a significant milestone in the ongoing evolution of the gaming landscape.
