Global Esports is one of the oldest and most prominent Indian esports organizations. The organization has made a name for itself in multiple esports titles, including VALORANT, BGMI, CS:GO, Overwatch, Fortnite, Dota 2, and has been an integral part of the Indian Esports ecosystem since it was formed back in 2017. The organization recently made the headlines after it secured a spot in the Valorant Champions Tour.. Following this, the organization’s CEO Rushindra Sinha shared Global Esports’ journey and struggle through multiple years before it achieved its success.

Rushindra Sinha talks about Global Esports’ struggle

In a recent livestream, Rushindra Sinha, founder and CEO of Global Esports, shared the organization’s journey and how it almost went bankrupt multiple times throughout its journey.

He started by showing confidence in GE's management. He stated that GE will continue its work even if only five or six members remain in the organization, and will not shut down. Further, he addressed past rumors of the org shutting down and having no funds and claimed that they were true. He also mentioned that it has happened multiple times in the past five years.

“Today, I can say with confidence, even if it is just the management, meaning literally only five or six members remain in GE (Global Esports), GE will continue (its work). It will not shut down. In the last five years, there have been a lot of rumors that GE is shutting down, GE’s funding has ended, and GE does not have any funds left, but they are absolutely right. It's been happening every day for the last five years.”

Following this, he talked about the whiteboard in his office that reads the number of days Global Esports could survive with its bank balance. He stated that the number has reached a single digit multiple times in the last five years..

Pointing at the whiteboard beside his desk, he says, “On this exact whiteboard, from the early days of Global Esports, we have been writing a number. The number signified how many days of balance are left in GE’s account. Most of the time the number would be in double digits, meaning 15 days, 20 days, or 50 days left for GE to shut down, technically,” said Sinha. “There have been enough times that the number went to a single digit. At least 5 to 10 times in the last 5 years we have gone to single digit balance, and our bank had a single-digit balance. We have even seen a negative balance in our account. And yet here we are. Still standing strong, still going strong.”

Sinha on how Global Esports joined Valorant International League

Later, he mentions how the organization was in contention against the biggest esports orgs across the globe for the franchise slot in the Valorant Partnership program. He further added that while Global Esports does not have funding like other orgs in the program, it has reached so far because it has the experience, knowledge, and understanding of the esports industry.

“We are in contention for a franchise slot in the International League against all the biggest Esports orgs on earth valued at 100s of million (USD) of dollars. The base valuation of any other esports org that is looking at something like a franchise slot would be 1000 crore (INR). We are doing something right. We have experience, knowledge, and understanding of this industry, and that’s why we are doing something right. We do not have crores of Rupees to invest in Esports, but with hard work and by earning we will make it happen. We will ensure it will happen.”

Showing confidence in his team and himself, Sinha said that the board will again read a single digit number someday, but that’s fine because he knows that the team will rise back up with their hard work. He mentions that the entire team will work hard and work their best when the time comes and they are not afraid of it.

“There will be a lot of days when this board will read a single digit number and that’s cool,” said Sinha. “We have made it in the past, we will make it in the future. We will survive because that’s what we do, we are survivors. Because we know how it feels when the number reaches the single digit and what hard work we have to do to make it happen,” he added.

Later, Sinha stated, “I’ll tell you this, every single person at GE, when push comes to shove, will get our hands dirty and we will work. We do not avoid, are ashamed, or are afraid of working hard. We will keep working. Let a single digit come on the board again, I’ll handle it myself. We are not afraid. Even if the number reads zero, we will sit in this same spot, start from scratch, and build an even bigger empire. That’s what we’ll do.”

Global Esports recently became the first Indian org to join Valorant International League, and it is a massive win for the org and the Indian gaming community. Furthermore, Global Esports will be setting up its base in South Korea for VCT 2023.
