After several leaks prior to the official announcement, Epic Games has finally confirmed that Will Smith is coming to Fortnite. The skin is now available in the Item Shop for purchase and fans can purchase it for 1,500 V-Bucks ($12). The released skin is not based on Smith’s real-life self, but it is based on Mike Lowrey, a character Will Smith played as in the Bad Boys film franchise. Just like other limited-edition skins, the new cosmetic will be available for at least a week starting 29 August.
Will Smith joins the ranks of Marshmello, Travis Scott and Harry Kane in Fortnite
The official skin description of the Will Smith skin in the in-game shop reads "Mike Lowrey is one cool customer. Whether he’s involved in explosive action or a high-speed chase, he’s always undeniably smooth. And now, the South Beach detective is heading to Fortnite.” The Mike Lowrey Outfit includes the Detective’s Duffle Back Bling along with Mike’s dual-wielding pickaxe, the Loose Cannon Cutters.
This is not the first time that Epic Games has partnered with major celebrities to introduce cosmetics to the game. In addition to partnerships with Marvel, Sony and DC Comics, the game has also partnered with soccer player Harry Kane, music artists Travis Scott and Marshmello, and more.
Will Smith’s skin is available for purchase in the Item Shop. Players can purchase the skin for 1,500 V-Bucks. The skin was leaked multiple times in the past but we finally have official confirmation from Epic Games.
The game also launched a new interactive experience last week, which is presented by TIME Studios to celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in-game. Developed by members of the community in Fortnite Creative, March Through Time immerses players in the entirety of Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech and the history surrounding it.
The experience includes collaborative mini-game quests you complete with others. These activities progress players through the experience and bring to life themes of Dr. King’s speech. Completing the challenges related to Dr. King and the Civil Rights movement will unlock a D.C. 63 spray for your Locker.
