Account Merge is not working as intended in Overwatch 2, which has led to inventory items not showing up in Overwatch 2.
Some players are also greeted with the First Time User Experience (FTUE) menu and are unable to access heroes they have already unlocked.
A fix is in the works and it will be deployed in the near future.

Overwatch 2 launched unsuccessfully on 4th October with server issues, missing items, and infinite queue times. Blizzard Entertainment is currently working on fixing those problems but quite a few players have reported that their entire stash of skins and other cosmetics went missing and they have zero progress on their accounts. It would send any player into a state of panic but the developers have assured that there have been some issues with the account merge feature and a fix will be available very soon.

Blizzard addresses problems with Account Merge feature in Overwatch 2

Blizzard revealed that it received a number of reports from players that their inventory in-game is partially or totally reset. We’ve determined that the cause for this discrepancy in approximately half of the reported cases is players having not yet completed their account merge. If you have not set up Account Merge, here’s what you need to do:

For Console Players

  1. Login to Overwatch from your console account.

  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to scan a QR Code on your mobile phone.

  3. Enter the code displayed on your console to connect to or create your Blizzard Battle.net Account.

  4. Once complete, you will be prompted to confirm your account upon the next game login to merge your accounts.

For PC Players

  1. Head to: https://account.battle.net/connections/

  2. Choose the appropriate console platform you want to connect to

  3. Sign into your console account

  4. Your Battle.net account should now be connected

In some cases, things are taking longer than expected for items from the original Overwatch to transfer over to their current Overwatch 2 inventories. There was a separate issue with account merging where players who had merged their console and PC accounts were experiencing problems logging in. This bug is now resolved.

As long as you have set up Account Merge correctly you should see all of your items available in your inventory once a fix is deployed. This is an issue separate from Account Merge but the player experience is the same as the above, where heroes and items that should be unlocked for existing players are appearing as locked.

These cases are almost certainly related to the First Time User Experience (FTUE) being applied to existing players. Logging out of Battle.net and logging back in fixes the issue but if it does not work, you can submit a support ticket at: https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/
