AMD Skyesports Championship 4.0: Dota 2 and CS:GO Tournament Format
This is how the two events will play out.
Skyesports is all set to reintroduce CS:GO and Dota 2 to the Indian gaming audience once again with the upcoming AMD Skyesports Championship 4.0. Through these events, the tournament organizer plans on providing the finalists with a chance to play the grand finals on LAN in front of a live audience.
Registrations for both events are already live for complete teams and solo players, coming to an end on 2nd December at 18:00 IST. Those interested in participating can still register themselves by clicking here.
But the road ahead will not be easy with only the most deserving teams getting a chance to reach the grand finals. Here is how the various qualifying stages will be played out for CS:GO and Dota 2.
CS:GO and Dota 2 tournament format explained for AMD Skyesports Championship 4.0
The CS:GO event will be featuring a prize pool of $10,000 USD while the Dota 2 event will be hosted for a $15,000 USD prize pool. Both tournaments are open for participation but they will also include a few directly invited teams to maintain a certain level of competitiveness.
Dota 2
Overall the Dota 2 event has been divided into two phases, the first phase consists of open qualifiers for teams from both India and SEA (Southeast Asia), while the second phase will decide which two teams move ahead to the grand finals.
Phase 1
The India Qualifier will consist of registered teams from India fighting through an open qualifier which will be following a single elimination format. The top two teams will advance to the next phase of the tournament.
Similarly, the SEA Qualifier will also be held. Certain teams from the region and will be handed direct invites and a round-robin format will be followed. Once again, the top two teams will advance to the second phase of the tournament.
Phase 2
The four qualified teams, two from the Indian qualifier and two from the SEA qualifier will compete in a single elimination bracket, with the top two teams moving ahead to the LAN finals which will be held in front of a live audience at Mumbai.
CS:GO
For CS:GO, a similar process will be followed where the whole event has been divided into two phases. The first phase consists of open qualifiers for teams from both India and SEA (Southeast Asia), while the second phase will decide which two teams move ahead to the grand finals.

The India Qualifier will consist of registered teams from the country fighting through an open qualifier which will be following a single elimination format. The top four teams will advance to the next phase of the tournament.
Similarly, SEA Qualifier will also be held. Certain teams from the region will be handed direct invites and a round-robin format will be followed. However, the winning team will directly be qualifying for the LAN finals instead of moving ahead to the second phase.
Phase 2
The four qualified Indian teams will compete in a round-robin format, with the top team moving ahead to the LAN finals which will be held in front of a live audience at Mumbai.
This is how both CS:GO and Dota 2 tournament will be played out over the course of the next few weeks and the final two teams will be shortlisted for the LAN finals.
