Valorant’s agent 16 is confirmed to release with patch 3.0 with the game’s most recent official blog post confirming that the next major patch will introduce a new agent. There have been a lot of leaks surrounding Valorant agent 16 ‘Grenadier’ and players are eagerly waiting for its release since Astra was added to the game. A lot of fans were disappointed when the game’s latest map ‘Breeze’ did not include an agent but Riot Games has promised that Valorant agent 16 will be releasing very soon. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming agent including its abilities, leaks, and release date.
Valorant’s character producer John Goscicki revealed “This time around we are throwing in some abilities that should feel familiar to folks who’ve played traditional FPS games their whole lives, but with added elements that will make those recognizable abilities unique within our roster. This is an Agent whose utility can create moments where you must rely on your gunplay.”
Riot Games talked about how Breeze did not release with a new agent but the studio is looking to release a new agent in the upcoming patch 3.0. The studio revealed that there was no agent released alongside the Breeze map as it is looking to focus on quality over speed.
In the game’s 2.09 update, players discovered a new name hidden in the game’s code. ‘Grenadier’ is the reported codename but it is unlikely that it will be the upcoming agent’s name going by the naming style for the existing agents.
We recently received a Duelist and a Controller, making the Sentinel and Initiator classes more likely to get another agent. Initiators have abilities designed to initiate fights and give teams an advantage when a teamfight breaks out. They can break open sites or zone opponents for a tactical advantage. Sova is one of the best Initiators right now, and Valorant Agent’s 16 contesting his dominance would be a welcome shakeup to the meta. There have been no reliable leaks or teasers to highlight the upcoming agent’s abilities so far. Riot Games is likely to drop some teasers closer to the agent’s release date.
Riot Games followed a schedule of one agent per Act since launch but that changed with the release of Episode 2 Act 3. With patch 2.10 being delayed due to engine updates and the VCT Reykjavík event, the release of the next agent has been pushed to the next major update which is Valorant Episode 3 Act 1.
The content update is expected to drop on June 22, 2021 which coincides with the end of the current battle pass. The new agent should be available on the same day with a brand new battle pass.
