Apex Legends Single Player Content: Respawn “Would Love To” Work on More PVE Content

  • Apex Legends' singleplayer content may be added to the game with Respawn showing interest in it.
  • However, the developers are focused on the team's health and will not overexert team members to make singleplayer content happen.
  • The game will receive more characters from Titanfall whether it’s through lore or playable content in the future.

Apex Legends’ single player content has been lacking since The Broken Ghost quest, released in May 2020, which featured a bit of PVE gameplay. Most of the world-building is through the game’s trailers and Stories From The Outlands cinematics which come out at least once per season. In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Respawn Entertainment revealed that it is interested in creating more Apex Legends single player content in the future. The developers have stated that they are already working on modes that push the game beyond the battle royale genre with Arenas, so fans should not rule out Apex Legends single player content in future seasons through quests or standalone missions.

Respawn Would Love to Work On Apex Legends Singleplayer PVE content

Respawn has already tested PVE content via quests. However, the only true single-player content we received was during the Broken Ghost event. Since then, most of the quests have been all about collecting treasure packs and unlocking comic pages. The team wants to continue to push some of the players’ favorite characters from Titanfall in one way or another. The game will receive more characters from Titanfall whether it’s through lore or playable content in the future.

Apex Legends general manager Dusty Welch, and game director Chad Grenier told Eurogamer "And so with all of the awesome legends and all the lore and storytelling that we're doing, the team naturally I think would love to deliver some sort of content that's like that, like single-player PVE content.” However, fans should not get their hopes up too high for Apex Legends’ single player content. Grenier added that it could be some time before we see more it in Apex.

Respawn Wants to Put Team Health Above Everything Else

Grenier stated “We're always balancing team health, and making sure we're not crunching. Because our focus is on PvP, we had to move away from that type of content for the time being. That's not to say in the future that we might not see some kind of PvE or campaign or something like that. But right now, we're not really focused on it - we're thinking about how to continue with a PvP game and continue storytelling. They're making awesome shorts like Northstar that was just released. But the desire is certainly there."

The game is already seeing a surge of Titanfall content with the game’s newest character Valkyrie being added to the game. She is the daughter of one of Titanfall 2’s antagonists ‘Viper’. She will be added to the game on May 4. The recent Northstar cinematic gave us a glimpse of Valkyrie’s childhood and it also featured Titanfall 2 characters Blisk and Viper. With the studio focused on keeping the work environment crunch-free, it may be a while until players get to see more Apex Legends single-player content.
